I used this layout as practice in the
Creative Artistry with Tool Sets class. Prior to this class I mostly used .png versions of brushes, so this was a good exercise in new process.
I used loaded brushes for:
- watercolor palm trees
- splatters (red and green)
- a recipe card beneath the photo on the upper right (stamped in blue, then Bevel and Drop Shadow added)
- text brush added to the background in 3 places (1 white and 2 blue)
- circle stains around Cher to emphasize her rounded bottom (note I also used a soft paint brush to blend in her body which was cut off in the iPhone extraction)
- a brush from the summer breeze palette stamped in red to create the red buddies and visual triangle
- a paper texture in the lower right
The class not only addresses how-to-s of brushes, but extensively dives into element properties and design principles so you know where and when to use brushes along with dimensional elements.
