Rescanning old photographs and delving into research about family members long departed and gaining a little insight into their characters:
Aunt Joan and Aunt Rachel, the two children at the back of the group, maybe the other children are cousins or just friends. Joan was born in 1910 and Rachel 4 years later, they were close as sisters, at least that’s the impression I was under from stories that Aunt Rachel told. I found Joan to be quite scary, my memory of her is that she was angry and grumpy and to be avoided. Luckily she lived far enough away that we didn’t see her often. I realise now that her husband died at the age of 40. I was 5 years old and didn’t understand that grief and worry was probably what was making her so angry with the world and everyone in it...
I started with the frondescence artsy paper, dropped a transfer from AP Rainbow over the top and changed the layer to soft light then duplicated again to give a little more colour. Positioned the photograph on top and used a soft eraser brush to delete parts of the background and let the green show through. Especially wanted to keep the wagon/trailer in the background. Added WordArt and journalling and called it done!
