"We started this morn from Whitewater at 6:30. The valley was full of orange & lemon trees and palms. Oranges can be bought for 10¢ a dozen, so we bought some. Just before entering Pasadena we saw a hanger and a dirigible in the making, The K.N.X. broadcasting station is Bundy & Albright and the aerial towers can be seen from the road...We also passed Mack Sennett’s Comedy studio. Ventura is on the sea coast and from Ventura to Pismo we saw the ocean quite a lot. Ventura is an oil town and they have even made long piers out in the water and are drilling and pumping oil. We have real good cabins, all brand new with private bath rooms. Some class!!
