The Astronomical Clock, a masterpiece of the Renaissance, is the product of a collaboration between artists, mathematicians and technicians.
Swiss watchmakers, sculptors, painters and automaton creators worked together. The current mechanism dates from 1842.
The Clock attracts above all by the play of its automatons, which, every day, at noon thirty, shake in full. At this moment, we can see the different ages of life,
who, personified by a child, a teenager, an adult and an old man, pass before Death. Above, it is the apostles who parade before Christ.
Their passage is punctuated by the flapping of wings and the song of a large rooster. In front of the Clock rises the wonderful Pillar of the Angels which, in a very original way,
represents a Last Judgment.
