I have had 44 years to get to know you. The principles by which I live my life are a direct result of the family you and Mom raised. From both of you, I have learned the meaning of responsibility to family and country.
I have seen the love you have shown towards Mom and all of us kids. Thank you and Mom for providing a safe place for me to grow and develop.

Here are a couple of the lessons I learned from you Dad.
When possible think before you act and ask for input from someone with a little more experience.
Trust your family, they will be there for you.
Plan, before you act, and getting input from someone with a little more experience, is always helpful.

For the country, you gave over twenty years of your life defending the principles on which the United States was founded. I was a little young to know and understand all the things you were involved with during your military career. The principles of Truth, Liberty, Justice, and Honor have become a significant part of my life. From you, Mom, Ann, John, and Joan I have learned the importance of Family, Love, Faith, and Temperance. The challenge is to apply these daily as I live my life. Dad, thank you for teaching me these principles and providing a safe place and the support to develop, grow, and learn.
