Journaling:

Fur Rendezvous known locally as Fur Rondy is held in February of each year in Anchorage. In addition to the dog sled races and the fur auction 1961 ushered in several new events to the festival. Car racing made its first appearance with ice racing on Sand Lake. Carnival rides by Golden Wheel Amusements arrived to the delight of every child.

If you look at the photo to the right, you will see Santa Claus dangling from a wire over the middle of the street.
