We were in RMNP at sunrise, and a mile into the park we could see the big herd of bull elk about a quarter of a mile away. With our long lenses, the herd still filled the frame. They wouldn't have been very interesting as they ate before bedtime, but one pair wanted to fight more than eat.

Excellent catch! Love how the elk span across the page paralleling the stripes! We've been watching the deer runt. We have an impressive 10 point buck strutting around.

Oh, SO love this. On our travel list, if we are fortunate enough to have federal government that 1) acknowledges Covid, and 2) Covid comes under control, is a trip back to the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole.
