The sun was red through a thick haze of smoke and reflections on sidewalks and the shiny metal of cars was eerie orange-red too. One day we watched Mike clean the ash off our patio table at the restaurant for lunch, but the smoky haze varied a lot and some days the sky was blue.
Our fire has burned so far for two months and is the third largest in Colorado history right now and threatening to burn through the Colorado State University campus. 11 square miles of Rocky Mountain National Park have been destroyed.
