The painted background paper is made up of two painted papers with the overlay made for the top layer set to Darker Color. Additional paint and gesso added under photo to increase the painted look.

You have done a superb job getting that painterly look to the background. I love the idea of the green and gold palette for a romantic page... it is an unexpected change from the traditional pinks.
