To create a single opening for the frame, I duplicated the file and used the Marquee Tool to remove the center strip. I used two papers for the background, blended with Pin Light. On that blend mode, there were some brighter spots of red that had popped out that didn't match the rest of the page. I added a layer mask to that paper and brushed out those spots.
