It wouldn't be a road trip without a breakdown, and this one involved a broken axle on my daughter's cross-country trip from California to New York. Nonetheless, my grand-dog Buko was able to seize the moment for a pretty cool photo op.

I blended the photo of Buko into Artsy Paper #1 on multiply mode, then duplicated the photo and clipped it to Transfer #2 twice, also using multiply blend mode. I added the striped overlay and clipped Solid Paper #2 to it to create gold stripes. To give Buko a bit of a junkyard dog vibe, I adjusted the levels on the photo and then blended the adjustment layer with Color Dodge mode. I claimed space for the title and journaling and then created a visual triangle of tires and circles by extracting the tire from my photo and repeating it here and there in the composition on different blend modes. To reinforce that triangle, and to add pizzazz to the composition, I added rhythmic blue brushwork, also in a triangle. For junkyard grunge, I dropped Artsy Paper 4 into the layer stack on Color Burn blend mode and blended away the odd bits with a layer mask. For embellishment, I loved the cool car transfer from the Element pack of the Artplay Palette.
