It became apparent during the week
leading up to Labor Day that it was
time to wish my beloved Mustang a
Happy birthday and say good bye!
It all started when my Mustang was not running well... a trip to the car Doctor showed nothing obvious... They recommended the alternator be replaced... $551 OUCH!
That did not help , so 3 weeks later they determined it needed new wires on the spark plugs and of course while there new spark plugs and a coil... another $386!!! Then it heated up while Janice and I were viewing the Carr Fire damage. ..but before I could have that looked at, it died on the way home from the Veterinary with Kismet... Had to be towed, they determined the Fuel pump had died, and they could find nothing wrong with the cooling system... another $727 bill!!! Yikes!!!!!
That was on a Wednesday, on Friday I took it to be smogged so I could license it over Labor Day weekend... could not be smogged due to sensors not resetting and error codes indicating over heating issues... Back to the shop on Monday... They could not get it to over heat, but changed the heat sensor and thermostat, only $130 this time!... 2 more days of fruitlessly trying to get the sensors to reset, it was next left overnight at the smog place... $141 later I was told it was in perfect condition, but still not smogable... the next step was another shop to reflash(think reboot) the computer...Turned out the computer was up to date, so this was not done... by this time we were rolling into Labor Day weekend and I knew if I was going to trade it in, it had to be now! Working around other major distractions in my life I ended up leasing this brand new Toyota Corolla!!! Have never owned a Toyota before... So far so good... The users manual, totals 2 in height!!! Lots of reading to try to fit into my life!!!
