This is my grandmother's great, great grandfather I think (not too sure about how many greats.) The article explains how this early type of photography was recovered by a Dallas photographer.

Good ol' J. W. was a Texan! Surprised me, I never knew we had Texas roots. He owned a dry goods and grocery store in Weatherford, TX. It's a small town outside of Fort Worth. Had quite the colorful life: 2 wives (not at the same time), 13 kids, had a stake in the California gold rush, and during the Civil War formed a patrol protecting the town from Commanches (he was too old to serve). He also was the first mayor of Weatherford.

Process notes:
I used SolidPaper No. 1 from ArtPlay Palette Snapshot as my background. I created a rectangle box of transfers to use a mat for my photo and article. On the left side I stamped the camera brush, recolored it and added the button from the kit (at 44% opacity) to the center so it looked like the lens opening. I then placed the article and added an adjustment layer to give it a grey tone to coordinate with the photo. Added a mask and blended it into the background. Title was added above. On the right side, I created another box out of transfers and placed my photo and masked out certain areas for a smoother blend. Added the camera transfer above it and placed some pertinent text above the photo. Placed some squiggles and splatters. Title at the bottom was the final touch.

Oh, I learned something new about vertical text, when typing more than one word the order is reverse. So you have to type the last word first.
