Journaling: She would find that much of her life would unfold while sitting in boats or next to boats, walking the floors of boat shows looking at boats, and lounging in webbed folding chairs on desolate beaches and by the sides of streams as the fishermen surf-casted and fly-fished. Fluke, flounder, bass, blues, trout, sea robins, salmon--it was all the same to her. Sometimes she would read a book or magazines. --Mom before we were born, 1940s

I picked the Artsy Transfer (#5) that would match the paper I wanted to use (Artsy #3), and aligned the layers of the Artsy Transfer over the pattern on the paper. I did this because I wanted to clip duplicates of my photo to the transfer layers to shake up color and texture and disguise the many imperfections in my old photo. I wound up using 8 duplicates of the photo.

I also duplicated some of the artsy transfer layers, achieving some nice spotlight effects with a layer called white, by duplicating it, clipping the photo to it, and playing with different blending modes.

Being that the photo had a hard right edge with not much room for blending, I didn't even bother, just used layer masks and various layers of artsy transfer #3 to cover up the seam as best I could

The stain and spatter brushes and the seashells finished this composition.
I love the color and contrast. The textures. The blending. You created a wonderful piece of ART!
