I started this lift by looking for an artsy paper with horizontal frames to collage my images onto, as I would rather blend with layer masks and my favorite blending brushes then do extractions any day. I chose Artsy Paper #3 from the Winter Sunrise Artplay Palette because it had the right shapes and also would work with the colors of my son's clothing. I decided early on that I wouldn't be focusing on the heritage aspect of the lift, but would run with several of the other ideas as laid out in the instructions for the challenge. Because these photos are screenshots from my son's Instagram account (at low resolution), I used a lot of the transfers and overlays in the APP to make the pictures look more arty and less blurry. I added texture with spackle brushes and then topped off the layer stack with an artsy paper from the Swell Artplay Palette, blended at reduced opacity on multiply mode, just to get some blue in the sky.
