Chinatown

Journaling reads: We stayed at an artsy Hotel, just down the street from Chinatown, and while we were very busy checking out the different Art Schools that Rachel and Joe might want to transfer to, we did take the time to investigate Chinatown on the last evening of our visit.

The Process: I began with a neutral cardstock from the new AP Downtown. I added the photo, clipping it to a mask from Downtown FotoBlendz. I added various transfers from AP Downtown, as well as a few of the ArchiTexture brushes, placing them mainly under the photo layer. I added the AsianScript, masking portions of it out. I added the title, the wordArt, and the journaling below and to the side of the photo. I added the UrbanThreads across the top of the title. I added the tall frame (from AP Across the Miles), allowing the bottom portion to fall under one of the transfers. I then began adding the cluster to the lower right edge, bringing in additional AsianScript brushework, splatters, and stains. I then decided to take down the saturation of the background cardstock, leaving just a bit of color in it. Feeling it was missing something, I added one of the tranfers from AP Downtown, and placed it under the cluster at the bottom right, and played around with the color channels in the color/saturation dialogue box to work with the photo. I felt it helped the layout a bit, but decided to copy that same transfer and placed it along the left page edge as well. I dont know if it worked, but I wanted to liven up the page a bit to fit Chinatowns energy a bit more.

wonderful use of the Asian characters and, of course, you found the perfect font for your title.
