Not sure if Ralphie is mad or pouting, I think he's both. A Christmas Story is my family's all time favorite holiday movie.

Jean Shepard, the author and narrator, grew up in the town I was born in. The film is set in the fictional city of Hohman, based on real-life city of Hammond, Indiana, although the film was shot in Cleveland, Ohio. (Hohman is an actual street in Hammond, we lived nearby.) The movie is loosely based on his days growing up in Hammond's southeast side neighborhood of Hessville. My Uncle went to the same high school as Jean did.
