Journaling: "Following a great move of God in Cane Ridge Ky. in 1901 the same power moved through the South. In the Carolinas, many thousands gathered to worship (while) disregarding denominational lines. Jesus' prayer for unity was being answered. These groups often numbered 10k+ and grew to need a place to meet; hence the "camp meetings" began. 10-30 ministers often preached simultaneously to the crowds. Hand-built cabins replaced tents and surrounded the shelter called the "Tabernacle".

Love the split page with two different patterns. Great job with the blue-green color pops.

Wow! Thanks for the lesson on how camp meetings were started! How very interesting! Great page and I love the patterns in the b&w elements! Love the feather addition! Great verse to go with the page!

Thanks. We've studied "revival" history for several years. Only the past two did we learn of these camps and their true roots. It was nothing like what we call "revival meetings" today. The camps came out of necessity- no "church buildings" and only itinerant preachers who as stated, ministered the Word to tens of thousands at one time! Those preachers didn't tout any denomination. They came to have "Communion Season". The Spirit of God drew the people-who drove wagons for miles to get there and didn't want to leave. They had the tents and then built shantys where they slept and made meals together. As the 2nd great awakening wound down and died out due to man forming new denominations and rules, the camps sadly turned into places for annual meetings. But know this: a 3rd Great Awakening is at the door. :)
