Process:
I followed Marleen's piece fairly literally, given the different shapes of our photos. I began by altering my photo with quick effects (Photoshop Elements 14) and then framing it using the frame from the Document Artplay Palette and some brushes. To mimic the crosspiece in Marleen's "window," I added a brush under the lady's feet on soft light blending mode. I added the paper in the corner and all the stitchery, then enclosed the space with the 8x8 line frame from the Seafoam APP. Things were already too busy in my layout for Marleen's text background to work, so I decided to go graphic, using the big letters from the Document APP as well as some smaller ones. I then slipped in my title and the photo credit for my son. From there I added the second frame and the overlay at the page perimeter. To pick up the red in the photo, I added a few little buttons. I was thinking of button-up shoes and Marleen's old New York when I did that.
