Process:

I clipped the photos to the masks in the UrbanThreadz frames, lowering the opacity of the top photo. To create the full-opacity out-of-bounds effect of the lantern, I duplicated the photo, placed it on top of the frame, and masked out everything that wasn't the lantern with a blending brush.

The background is a combination of a full-size photo and several papers blended together on various blending modes. For the rectangular strip on the right, I used Aspera Solid Paper No. 1, positioning it on top of the layout, blending it on the multiply mode, and then masking most of the paper away with a blending brush.

I added the brushwork and color to my page next. The blue comes from the blue and gold layers in the Artsy Transfers, which I placed above and below various layers. I did the journaling and then, inspired by Tylertooo's King of the North layout, used her star and Threadz treatment

Love the yummy darkness complementing the glow from the lantern floating out of the frame and the beautiful setting sun - or was it the dawn? Who knows, maybe the beach party lasted all night :) Atmospheric and eye-catching for sure!

Ditto what she said, this has a wonderful mysterious edge..wonderful process also!

Stunning page! I love the way the light from the sunset, lantern and fireworks leads the eye across the page. Gorgeous!

Love the dark background and the gorgeous beach photo! Great light!

How I would love to see this in real life -- your colors captured such a beautiful moment -- your entire LO seems to be "lit" from within. Gorgeous ... one of those breathtaking kind of moments when I saw your page.

so dynamic and exciting, love how there's a big focus (on the beautiful dark b/g), then a small focus, on the intensely lighted framed photos. Plus you are adding to my excitement about Costa Rica :)
