Journaling:
We stayed until the morning sun lit every sunflower on the mountain. Remember the women from Long Island we met at Treasure Falls: they were shocked to see so many of the trees killed by pine beetles, and I realized that seeing those dead trees no longer broke my heart.

wow this is spectacular! I love the background wood texture under the framing - my sister and I drove where the beetles have devastated the forest and it just did not seem like Colorado - it was sad! I am glad to read it will come back and in the meantime the sun flowers are gorgeous!

your elements are wonderful -- wonder why the dead trees bother you no more; maybe you have grown accustomed/or maybe you see the new life coming forth ?

With miles and miles of dead trees, I think it's like when a family member dies. You go through a grieving process and eventually come to terms and there's acceptance. We come to see what is instead of what we've lost.
