Sunset from my yard the other night, through my sunflowers, some of which are quite faded, but I am still enjoying them. I lifted:

The sunset was beautiful
tonight, and it kept getting redder and more coloful. But when I looked through the camera, it was not as
magnificent as it was to the naked eye, so I skipped the photo. But then it kept calling to me...this is special, this is a more beautiful sunset than youve seen in a long time, so I tried again, and while the camera did not quite capture the intensity of it, I quite liked the effect of the patio light shining on my sunflowers with the sun setting in the
background.
Today my Instagram feed was loaded with pictures of this sunset which apparently
proliferated in the Bay Area, followed by something called the strawberry moon.
Although the strawberry moon always occurs at this time of year, it was a once-in-a-generation pairing - the summer solstice and the emergence of the full Strawberry Moon.
This coming together hasnt happened since 1967, recalled by some as the Summer of Love, and wont occur again until June 21, 2062.
The Strawberry Moons name originates from the collection of strawberries by Native American Algonquin tribes, according to the Old Farmers Almanac.
The sunflowers are fading, nodding their big heads with the weight of the forming seeds. Even in their state of decay, they have a lovely form; they make me smile every day.
