A somewhat cryptic look at a Red-tailed Hawk last December in the area where we do a Christmas bird count seems symbolic of that time of year. My DH doesn't like this one, perhaps for the near lack of color or the unfamiliar look of the hawk. The bird's head is turned away, so those are the feathers of the back of the head. The lack of color is typical of cloudy winter days in my mind.
