I mentioned in a previous layout that when my mom passed she left me boxes and boxes of photos and clippings, postcards and letters--memorabilia of every kind. I have no cohesive plan for how I'm going to preserve it all, and in fact I am still sorting through it, although it's been over 3 years since I inherited it. As I go through her memories I will occasionally find a photo that really intrigues me--perhaps because of the subject, perhaps because of some characteristic of the photo itself--and I'll put it aside. This is such a photo, a photo taken of my mom when she was a young woman, when she lived and worked in Bermuda. She's quite clearly perched on a rock on a beach, watching her reflection in the water, or maybe she's just watching the waves roll back out to sea. What caught my attention about this photo is the way it looks as though she is partially under the waves, with the water tugging at her, pulling her out to sea as well. Was she really under water? Did the photographer mean to capture this? Is it just a trick of the light? Perhaps something as mundane as a double exposure? Whatever the cause, it got my attention, and the latest AnnaLift gave me the idea for how to scrap it. Oh, and although I think of myself as a practical girl, sometimes I am prone to a bit of drama, hence the fanciful page title. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
It is a fascinating photo, opening the mind to imagining the possibilities. The opacity of everything on your page reinforces that. Otherworldly, exquisite!

looks like a double exposure. i once dd that with an entire roll of film in Maine in the '80s!! i do LOVE the effect on this page/photo. absolutely gorgeous.
