The Process
I began with the photo of the two sisters who had just gotten married to sailors who had returned home from the war. First I extracted them from the photo and using the cutout tool from the filter/artistic menu, I played with the threshold until I had an image that was balanced and still had some details. I clipped a transfer from AP Serenity with the blending mode changed to multiply. I selected an artsy paper from AP Serenity for the background, duplicated it, increased the saturation, and changed the blending mode to multiply. I scanned a newspaper article about the marriages, increased the contrast and levels. Using the magic wand I selected the white background and deleted it leaving just the type. Next I layered it on the background paper and changed the blending mode to soft light. Using the hue/saturation tool, I changed the color of the foliage and changed the blending mode to hard light. A multimedia home was added. To complete the page I layered in stitching, elements, labeled words and brushes.
