Twas the day after
Christmas and all
through the house,
not a parcel unopened
not even a card.
The stockings were
empty and tossed in
the corner, there job
was all done.
The food was spread
on the counter with care.
There was cookies and
and candies and nuts
to be had. The turkey
was stuffed, the potatoes
were mashed. Such a
feast now eat it all,
eat it all seemed the
call. But alas the
feast would feed
many more people.
So leftovers were
packed and dishes
were done. The girls
were excited, the
adults were tired
Games were brought
out and visiting
started when off in
the corner we heard
such a quiet, we looked
did see the Dear
Father asleep in his
chair. The games and
visiting continued
all day while Dad
in his chair napped
all through the noise.
We ate and we played
and we ate some more,
until the day's end
when we tumbled into
bed thankful for our
many blessing of
food, family and fun.
