this is my Anna lift - thanks to chindoiel for her lovely inspiration page - this was taken at the Forsythe Refuge which is my favorite spot to bird in NJ. These are skimmer. They have a very long bottom bill as compared to the upper bill and they just really skim along the surface for food - one of my favorite birds to watch
