103 Stories Down!

Greetings, O Scrappy Ones! It's been a while since I've posted--over 6 months! Holy Moly where does the time go?!? I do hate it when life gets in the way of my scrapping hobby, but whaddya gonna do? My job has been soul-crushingly busy for the past several months, but there is a glimmer of light ahead in this o-so-dark tunnel. I was actually supposed to go into work for this entire weekend, but where I live we are in the middle of a heat wave, and The Powers That Be practically ordered everyone to stay away from work this weekend so as to cut down on the energy usage. Who am I to argue with a directive like that? :) It's actually too hot to even go outside, so with windows open and ceiling fans a'spinnin' I thought I'd use the energy I'm saving by not using the air conditioner and put it toward computer use and do some scrapping. Seems like a fair trade to me! :)

The story is this...

I have a number of projects I've yet to finish, one of them being my vacation book for a trip to Chicago Mr. Squeak and I took last August. Most of the photos have been sorted and scrapped with templates, but I've been making a few pages with a decidedly whimsical flair, to use as, oh I don't know, something to highlight a place we saw or an event we did, or perhaps to be used as chapter starters. Aaaaaaaaanyway, one of our excursions was to the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower--boy, I still can't get used to that name change!) and one of the things we did there was play on the Ledge, an enclosed glass balcony that sticks out from the building at the 103rd floor. Stepping onto that see-through glass ledge is an experience! A very scary experience! All the while I was taking my first step, my lizard brain was screaming at me: "Danger! Danger! Do NOT step out onto the open space!" I managed to overcome my fear, though, and had a delightful time, taking several photos in the process. The photo on this page is of me looking down through the ledge and trying to photograph the street below. Did I mention the street was 103 floors below me? My, that's a long way down!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope to be back before another 6 months have gone by! :)
Fascinating story, love the effect on the page overall, glad that you are posting again here as well. Ann

Good to have you back and scrapping!! Great and interesting page! I guess I have a lizard brain too...I am sure I could not do this :) I would be sure the glass would break from teh weight of my 100 lbs or something :) Oh and I didn't know they changed the name...silly.

amazing layout Shirley - glad that work gave you some home time so that you could do a bit of scrapping. I guess the heat was good for something. Love the layout.
