CHEERY O
And we are officially in the final stretch of August.
That is so crazy to me!
I know it is silly, but usually in the spring, I pull out my beachy candles and some of the seashells and shore decor. I'll scatter them in the kitchen and LR area and they make me happy. This year, I never got around to doing that. I grabbed one Ocean Breeze candle, and I think I might have lit it once, maybe twice. Typically, I keep that stuff out until Caitlyn's birthday (Sept 21), which is when we decorate for Halloween.
Needless to say, it's too late to decorate for summer now. ;)

Work yesterday was long but fine. I 100% admit that I will never be a great Merit Badge counselor. After working with the same guy twice for Badge Programs, I am in awe. He can talk to a group of Scouts about anything and everything and tie it all back to the topic at hand. I scribbled more notes about how to talk to the group than I did about the actual topic. I joked with him that I wrote something down I never thought I would have to: Learn how to use TikTok.
:floorlaugh:

I have a ton of house stuff I need to do today but I think I might split it between today and tomorrow. I haven't had much chance to scrap for myself this month and I feel like I should take advantage since I don't have to work on site this week. I am one of those people who can't scrap in the morning if I have "things to do." That means I often run out of time for myself. But I'm going to try.

Any bets on whether I can do that today? No takers?
Can't say I blame you!

HAGD!

Our 4.5 hour drive yesterday was longer and stressful. Atlanta traffic is horrible let alone be 52 feet long (truck and trailer) We have been through in the past but with the van so it was easier. We decide no more Atlanta trips...we will go way around from now on.
Oh no, that sounds brutal. Even if it takes longer, going the scenic route sounds nicer and much more relaxing.
Fresh veggies are the best. How kind of the woman to give them away.
I love that shelf, the meaning behind it brings out its beauty! Gorgeous baskets, too.
My brother is 59 so still a way to go before he can retire.

Yes, he did like the collards with the smoked turkey! Unfortunately, lol!
Well, that's a bummer! Good thing I hear that smoked turkey will be unavailable to purchase anywhere for the rest of time. :giggle4:
Hope the rest of your day was lovely and that Mark's phone got fixed.

Hugs!

@vickyday so sorry you don't like the smell of smoked turkey but I agree bacon smells fabulous when it is cooking. We have a smoker and smoke all kinds of stuff, I just love it. You are making me want to smoke a turkey or chicken.

@faerywings I hope you can get some scrap time in. I know we were raised work first play later but I hope you can forget that for a little while so you can scrap. I love to scrap in the morning before Jay gets up. We will be home soon so I will have 2 screens and can scrap our trip this summer I hope. I think you should bring out the beachy stuff it will make you happy.
Just remember you cannot be good at everything so what if you are not the Merit Badge pro you are so good at all the the other things that you do!!!!

Yesterday we drove around Stone Mountain and checked out the Grist Mill and the Quarry. All I can say is those quarry-men worked very hard in difficult circumstances. The granite from this mountain was used all over the US and world...its amazing. They used it in the Panama Canal It's 1,686 feet so not super high. I finished my basket that I was working on and read my book a little so it was a relaxing day.
Today we will take the gondola ride up to the top of the mountain so that will be a great photo op I think. Its pretty clear today. Later I will wash the floors and prep to leave in the morning. We have two more campsites. We will be getting home Friday...this summer went so fast, 111 days just flew by.

Have a great Monday

That's probably why I don't get anything done when I start my scrapping in the morning! ;)
Yes, I agree! It is CRAZY that we are at the end of August already!

Unfortunately, not knowing how much pre-smoked turkey would come in a package, I order a certain amount and ended up getting 2 packs of 2 pieces in each! So, I have one more bath to make, anyway!

WOW! Back home Friday, eh?! I am sure that will be bittersweet!
Mark wants to build a smoker. He may start working on that once the weather cools! I like smoked turkey OK.....but not the smell while it is cooking with the collards! After I get rid of the other pack of smoked turkey, I will go back to the bacon!
Safe travels home this week!

Good morning ladies. We had a wonderful BBQ with friends yesterday and enjoyed sitting outside. This wk is hotter (again) with temps around 90F. Today I'll putter around the house. Might get some scrapping done this afternoon before we head out for the night. A group of us are going for dinner, drinks and bingo. Then home around 9:30 to watch another episode of 1883 (3 left). After that I think we'll watch a series that jen recommended, The Hunting Party.

I'm still designing for the 2 upcoming markets over the next 2 wkends and then I'll get 8 wks off before Xmas markets begin. Sure looking forward to the break. I love what I do but I also need time to get other things done.

Made pickled onions yesterday and will definitely be making those more often, I really enjoyed them (not D tho,he only likes onions fried).

@I bet you are so much better a teacher than you give yourself credit for. I think those kids are lucky to have you! End of summer is coming too fast. I never did get another batch of herbs planted and never got around to getting a few more chairs for the front porch. Now I can leave it all until next year :)

Time for one more coffee and then get Remi out for her walk. HAGD everyone.

Good Morning!
I should say afternoon as most of you are ahead of me time wise LOL But either way, the day is young and lots of time before me. Need to get the laundry started though.

I giggled at the cant scrap first thing. I dont have that issue. I have learned to tune out life and what has to be done. As long as its not an emergency like laundry or dinner, I can tune it out if I'm in the scrappin mood.

Weekend was good, slow, low key, easy but that was the calm before the storm. This week is crazy crazy and I am not sure I am ready. Its the pre-school cooking every week crazy planning get groceries is the kitchen clean laundry washed volunteers lined up and whew breath baby breath! Then I have to add in that my house and family needs much of the same, groceries, food, planning, school. Speaking of which, kid needs help with his first ever online college class.

Have a wonderful day and see you all this evening.

Nice morning for our usual bike ride. We generally stop at the orchard for peaches; I think we may be down to the last 3 or 4 weeks that they will be available. The peaches recently have been so big, and the ones I got today are humongous. I can't even eat a whole one at once. I don't know why that is. But anyway, apples are coming in, so there will be good apples available there until Thanksgiving, when they close up for the winter.

Yesterday afternoon David and I went out to clear a small tree off one of the trails, then we came back and I took a nap. We had discussed that he didn't have to drive anywhere so I could park my car in the middle of the driveway instead of squashed over to the side (we only have a one car garage). I woke up and was just puttering around the house. David wasn't on the deck, but the stuff he was using -- he's in a repair and stain the deck project these days -- was out there so I didn't really think about it. I noticed that it looked like rain was coming, so I stuck my head out to see if he needed help getting stuff in. No David. I looked all over the house. No David. I looked in the garage. His car was there but no David. I put on my shoes and walked all around the yard. Can't find him. I start to panic. We do have a bunch of hidden nooks behind bushes, so I was sure he had gone out and his blood sugar had plummeted or he had chopped off a hand or something, and was laying dead on the ground somewhere. I tried calling him and the phone was answered, but no conversation. Holy cow! Then I got a text from him. He had forgotten he had a choir practice at 4 at church and had run out to barely get there in time. I never even noticed that my car was gone from the driveway. Good thing we always have wine in the house.

What grades are the G-DDs going into this year? Are they excited, dreading, or a little bit of both? Good luck to them!
The older one is moving on to middle school this year and is very excited about it. The younger goes into 2nd grade, but is changing schools to be in the gifted program, and is not so happy. She's sure she's going to miss all her friends. We try to tell her that everyone in her class will be new to that school and she'll make new friends, but life is very concrete to a 7-year-old. I'm sure she'll be beaming by the end of the first week.

We decide no more Atlanta trips...we will go way around from now on.
My brother, who spent his career driving big trucks all over the country, refuses to drive around Atlanta. When he drives from St Louis to Fort Myers to visit mom he goes through Alabama somehow just to avoid it. Maybe Birmingham? I'm not sure.

Late getting in here today. DD#1 is over at son's house most of this week. They pop in here every day for an hour or so but mainly off to appointments then over at his house. She will stay with me on Wednesday night then I will drive her to the airport early Thursday morning.

I scrapped a pre-release LO and uploaded this week's Free With Purchase LO to digi-land. Also commented on a LO posted on my challenge. Still babying my left shoulder abit but it is improving. DD#1 was so sweet... she changed the sheets on my bed for me yesterday. She didn't want me doing that due to the shoulder issue. Such a sweetheart!!

I had plans to change my siggy this month... but that didn't happen. Might as well wait until September and make an autumn one. :D
