Weird being sad ... ???

I haven't been doing much genealogy for ages, but I just read a book about different "myths" people tell about their family history. (Like being descendant from a king or something like that - often just myths running in the family with zero substance once you do the research.) It was a really interesting book, and I felt like doing some research again.

Yesterday I managed to find the birth record for my great x 6 grandmother. Was so happy to find it - and hence her parents. One more generation found!

But now I found the death of her father ... and how he died. The priest has written in the record: "hung himself" ... Totally lost the feeling for doing more research.

It's kind of weird how effected you get over something that happened in 1775!

I get that, Eva! When I found my 4th great grandparents' marriage I happy danced in my chair at 2 am. |That led to the discovery of his death 15 minutes later, leaving Martha with 2 small children and pregnant with the 3rd and I found myself weeping, heartbroken at the hard life to follow in the work house. Then she remarried a few years later and had another daughter, so I rejoiced. Then HE died and it all began again. I was devastated and emotionally drained. I didn't research again for weeks. But I was drawn back and found much joy. I hope that happens for you!

I get it. When I did my own Heritage album last year, we had two suicides to record. It is sad when anyone takes their life. So no, its not weird. We also found an ancestor who a first cousin once removed of King Henry VIII. He contributed to the death of the King's two sons in effort to gain the throne. EEK! Ended up beheaded in the Tower of London. You never know what you will find!
