This Old Local Pirate is feeling old and tired. Think I might need to replace my back with a pegleg. Hahaha! *winces a bit in pain*
But it was worth it. I pulled everything off and the party was a huge success! The food was delish, the costumes get better and better every party, and my son makes the funniest pirate ever. He *really* gets into it. He could successfully do Talk Like a Pirate Day year-round and not break character.
I didn't take any pictures but my MIL and Caitlyn did so I'l have to bug them to send to me.

While I was cooking in the afternoon, I got 10+ notifications in a row of movement at the bird feeder. oddest bird I've ever seen.
Brown hairy feathers, little hands that grabbed the seeds, and a long, fluffy tail. And it didn't fly, it climbed. Any ideas about what it could've been? It looked similar to this guy:



I was supposed to have today to recover and clean here and then clean for my friend tomorrow. The weather is going to be snowy and icy tomorrow so I switched cleaning for her today. I hope I don't regret it when I can't move later on. But it's not like I can afford to lose the money. I don't think prices are coming down any time soon. :/

I am going with Caitlyn tonight to bring Pigeon back to the vet. There seems to be another lump under where the abscess was removed. In between I'l put away some of the party things and check the weather. There might be significant icing and that can be a problem. Even Crazy Snow Friendly Faery doesn't want to deal with ice.

Okay, pink with sparkles ordered. If you ever beg for snow again I will have it ready!!! As for the car, we shall see. They didn't call and say sorry this time and when I called she said after a frantic search they found where my parts were stored and it should be done today.

If Pink is out of stock, purple sparkles are also pretty. I might even need one of each, to wear at the same time. That's how my head is today! LOL!

Thank you! The Lord surely blessed me with a wonderful family! I like to think that, maybe DH is not exactly watching over us but that he can at least feel the love!

It was 40*F and heading up - it is in the 60's already!!! The sun is shining and hardly any wind is blowing!!! Yes, I did open the house up yesterday afternoon - so nice to let it air out! May do the same later on today.

We had fantastically perfect weather for our bike ride across Florida. Biked a bit over 200 miles in five days. Then on the Auto Train home. I love riding the train home. I was so tired of just doing stuff and interacting with people by the time I got home I think I've slept about 15 of the last 24 hours. It was fun to see friends from previous tours on the ride, but it did mean a lot of socializing and that's hard on this old introvert. DH isn't much help, as he's getting more and more deaf. He just sits there most of the time. I can't imagine how it would be without the hearing aid.

What a trip! I can't wait to see yoru LOs of it. I know what you mean by getting over-socialized. Too people-y. I went to bed before the family went home last night. By 9.30 I was done.

Wanna go car shopping??? They had to take the headliner off my car (twice before today) and wouldn't you know today they notice the rubber seal around the glass is cracked too! Huh now we gotta order more parts!!! I felt bad for the lady when she had to call me. I could hear the embarrassment in her voice.

In other news, our English Cream Golden Retriever who currently lives with our son and his fiance will more than likely be put down tomorrow. He is in very bad health and unfortunately not much more can be done. His 10th birthday is today. I

Morning all. Popping in early today before I get side-tracked with other things.
I did get some chores done yesterday... towels washed, dried and back in the cabinet... and kitchen cleaned - floor swept and mopped. The bad thing is the back and shoulders were yelling at me in the afternoon and again this morning. I need to buy a new Swiffer unit as mine is old and doesn't hold the pads very well which means it takes more effort to use. Looks like I will be spending more time in the recliner with the massager unit going today.

Good morning ladies. I am off to the indoor walking track in a few minutes. Its cold and snowing today but tomorrow it warms up a bit (if you can call -10C (14F) warm

Then I'm off to Canasta for the afternoon.

Morning everyone! It is trying to snow a bit more, but we are not supposed to get too much more. I am stuck in the house again today as DH has my car. He has to go to the grocery store for me today after work if he wants his supper . I wonder if he will pick up the right things on the list I gave him?? So no hike today as they actually cancelled it, that is very rare for our group! They are based out of Lake Cowichan a small town about 20 mins from where I live now and they got even more snow than we did. They are higher in elevation so I guess that makes sense. With it being so snowy and chilly outside, why oh why do I suddenly have an ant infestation? I spent most of the afternoon chasing the little buggers and trying to figure out just where they are coming from. I still don't know. I have some ant traps out and so far they don't seem to be as bad as they were. I know not to step on them as they let off some kind of scent that attracts more ants. Hopefully this was a one day thing! Needless to say I did not get my baking done and I did not do any scrapping. I did read some more of my book, with one eye on the kitchen floor looking for crawly things UGH!! I would really like to do one of the challenges today, perhaps that will bring my mojo back home to me?

It is a very big book, but then all of her books are very large! This one is 900 pages. I am not even 1/4 of the way into it yet, its hard to concentrate when you are looking for and trying to figure out where ants are coming from

Good Morning everyone! Its Wednesday so just a quick drive by fruiting. Still sitting here in single digit temps but that's okay. Means its not gonna rain. Yesterday was fun/annoying/good. Haircuts always fun/good but I never like how she styles my hair. Can't wait to wash it and do it right today Got my car back but yep, had to order more parts.

I pulled everything off and the party was a huge success!

Yeah for a successful party!!!! That's awesome. Sounds like everyone had a blast too.

Yeah the parts that took three times to get are all there and installed. Sunroof drain tubes are now fixed yeah but they finally looked and noticed the rubber seal of the glass is also cracked and ooops gotta order more parts. Oh well, such is life.

I heard this in Elvis voice, The Ant have left the building I'm sorry youre having ant issues, that would freak me out. Guess they were cold and didn't like the snow.

My 2024 photo book was here when I got home Monday afternoon, but I didn't have time to look at it until yesterday. You would think that after spending a couple hours on each page, then going through them again, I wouldn't really need to look at the printed version, but it seems different somehow, pulled together on paper and bound into a book, and I loved looking through it. Motivation to keep on for my 2025 pages. I also decided that I really can't proofread 12x12 pages very well on my laptop monitor so I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a large monitor. I hope it can fit on my desk so I can see it. Best Buy has one on sale I can pick up this afternoon.

@faerywings that squirrel picture made me laugh. I also laughed at the line I read in the newspaper today, "Dead chickens don't lay eggs" (in a story about bird flu) so I don't hold much faith in my sense of humor at the moment.

ended up in the recliner reading. I dug out the JD Robb - Eve Dallas series - and am re-reading them starting with #1... am halfway finished with book 2. I forgot how much I enjoyed this series.

I LOVE this series!! I get almost all of my books from the library, but I'm so entranced with Eve Dallas I always pre-order the next one off of Kobo. A new one came out a couple days ago and I'm forcing myself to finish the book I'm reading now (Out of the Dark, a sci-fi by David Weber) before I start it. It's actually Book 60, can you believe it? Although I think they count some where they combine three previous books into one volume.

I have a meeting in town this afternoon, and then grocery shopping, but I hope I can start pulling together my photos from the Florida coast-to-coast bike tour today. More pages to come!

Thank you! Yes, 10 is young on the old scale. Most can go 10-13. In update news, he passed away in the night and is no longer suffering.

I hope those ants didn't come back! They are such a nuisance!
Had a great time with Ilene. She is so funny. We have a gravel drive and it is on a slight incline. She spins gravel every single time she leaves! She's a maniac!
My stomach was better than yesterday, but still needs improvement!

This day is almost done, but thought I would pop in for a few minutes.
Ilene and I had a great day together, of course!
When she came at 9:20, my stomach was telling me it was not ready for food. So I asked her if she minded waiting for an hour or so to go to Ruby Tuesday instead. Their 12.99 salad bar was on special today for 7.99. We love their salad bar. So she was willing to wait. In the mean while, we played 2 games of Qwirkle. After we came home.....more Qwirkle. We played 6 games! I fixed her a pimento cheese sandwich to take with her for supper so she wouldn't have to mess with anything when she got home and had to get ready for church. We plan to get together tomorrow and go to Save-a-Buck and then, I would imagine, come back here to play more Qwirkle!
I got our taxes done yesterday! Will get the check in the mail tomorrow.
Worked on church paperwork tonight after church.
And now I will clean out the email and go to bed.
