Manga is the Japanese word for comic, animation, and cartooning, and the term shojo means anime for girls. As a unique art form it came into it's own in the mid century, specifically the 1960's. I love the retro kitschy look of all things vintage manga, and I admire the talented artists who created the illustrations and stories that have become iconic and informed a world of designers whose aesthetic is based on these adorable cute (kawii) characters. I have taken the look and given it the Fiddlette treatment hoping you will also enjoy using these elements in your scrap pages, art journaing, mixed media projects and atc's.
