So...next weekend I am going to be house-sitting for a friend. She has 2 dogs, but also 8 chickens and 2 goats. Having been born and raised in the city, this will be a totally new experience for me, even though I worked in the veterinary field for over 40 years.

Do you have any pets that aren't a dog or cat? And by "pet" I mean any animal that you share your home with for pleasure. Currently my only pets are my two parakeets, but in the past we have had a guinea pig, gerbils, and a snake. We even had a praying mantis for a few months that we rescued from the cold one autumn!

We do not have any unusual pets ... although we saw a goat exchange in a parking lot today lol Totally random

lol no. just 2 cats and 2 dogs but I know designer that raises ferets and I had a friend who had snakes for years. she kept them in an aquarium!

We did have a tortoise before, but she got lonely & we decided to give her to a guy who had several tortoises.

We have always had some out-of-the-norm pets along with our cats and dogs.
In the past, we have had African Clawed Frogs along with our goldfish. We had a large rabbit-- A Belgian White . Several snakes. A vinegaroon. Several praying mantis. Tarantula and a fishing spider. Rats, lots of rats.

We are actually at the lowest number of trad and non-trad pets right now. Just 2 dogs, one snake, one tarantula, and 4 rats.

If you think my family is weird with animals, you should see my brother-in-law's family, they specialize in exotics. Lizards and frogs as well as cats and dogs. You can imagine how well my kids get along with their cousins. :D

No pets right now, but I used to be a crazy chicken lady and had mess of chickens in my younger days.

No - only our cat and a lot of frogs in our pond :)
But next month I have to feed our neighbors rabbits and chickens for a week.

Only 2 dogs but when I was a kid I always wanted a monkey. Friends of ours have a wonderful home of llamas, dogs, cats, turtle, parrots, goats and a mini horse. I'm so envious of the large property they own and the mini farm they have.
