Talk to me about Flickr

I need some advice......I've had a Flickr Pro account for about 4 years now, mostly because I used to use it to post CT layouts in order to capture the image to show to the designer before it could be posted in public galleries. I also have loaded up each of my December journals, so 40 odd pages x 5 years or so. Altogether, I have 819 photos of quite large proportions, ie: not the size taken by phones/web sized images.

I opened a pro account as I didn't want to keep having to delete old images so that I could load up new ones. But now I don't really use Flickr to host CT images anymore although do tend to load completed albums for specific projects or things I can't load here at Oscraps (like paper scrapbook pages). I've carried on paying the pro fee (about US$25 per year) but am beginning to wonder if I should change.

I don't use Flickr to upload onto my ipad & ipod, as neither have cameras so I don't use them at all for photo stuff/scrapping etc.

I received an email from Flickr today saying they are now offering 1 terabyte of free space to everyone and holders of pro accounts can downgrade to the free account if they wish.

So....my questions to those in the know.....

How do I find out how much space my photos are currently taking up?

Would you switch to a free account now?

Thank you for any help you can offer this techno dinosaur!

I have Always had a free flickr account,
and checked today.
I have 206 layouts (only web size) and it's less than 1 percent of my 1 TB allowed.

when I click on upgrade, I can get the add free version for $50
or double my space for $500!

so, I'll stick to my free account!

when I move the mouse over the top right icon (logout) on flickr
it shows how much space I use

always chatty at the O!!
A lot of people use Flickr to keep all of their full sized layouts. I always mean to but never remember.

I down-graded to a free account - they do keep all your files. I deleted a few of the ones shown on free account and it filled the spaces with older photos.

Am I making any sense? Please, blame it on only 1 cup coffee :)

I'm in a similar situation, with both Flickr & Photobucket...
Flickr I started because I was doing HUGE amount of photography in 2005 when I got my first digital camera, photobucket to get codes (as I didn't know you could right click and get an image address at the time) for the CTs...

To down grade, you just simply do not remove, not sure if they will give you money back...
I have been thinking of having a look at my stream as I had album that are priceless and would take me eons of time to find the photos in my EHDs...
I have an online back up so is not like I needed as back up...but also some of my early blog entries are linked to photos in Flickr....
I don't think is too much money if one wants to have things organised, but I can tell you this:
I have a 500Gig EHD another one 1Tb
The 500G has ALL my kits since 2007, plus photos , net images, and a bunch of folders with stuff , including my WHOLE My Pictures and documents and back ups from my 2 previous computers, one HP one Dell.... and STILL has space...so I think that if your worry is space...you should be more than covered with free account....
