November 30 Days Challenge - Day 13

vickyday

Love my O Family!
CHEERY O
Welcome! I hope you are having a great week! It has been a busy one for me. I feel like I've been gone from the house most of the week! But, that isn't exactly true, it just feels that way since I've been out of the house every day, including today!

I have a wonderful friend who took me under her wing after Tim died. After I spent about 3 months running back and forth between 3 of my 4 kids, I was ready to settle down. However, I did not want to stay in the parsonage by myself. The church gave me permission to stay as long as needed, but it was time. I was spending some nights already with Ilene who had lost her husband the year before Tim died. One night I asked her, "Ilene, I've been thinking.....I want to ask you something, but I don't want you to feel like you have to say yes!" I continued by saying, "What do you think about the idea of me moving in with you?" And, practically before I could get the words out of my mouth she answered, "YES!!!" very emphatically! I was so relieved! She then said, "the only thing is that I need to run it by my kids to be sure they are OK with it." I was so happy they agreed it was OK!

So began the process of moving things out of the parsonage and into Ilene's house. I gave all of my dishes and lots of other things to my youngest son as he did not yet have a house of his own and his siblings were already settled in their own homes. So that left my clothes, craft room, books, computer, and furniture. I had already taken the spare bedroom set to my daughter's for my grandson. My youngest got our bed. The dining room furniture belonged to the church. So, lots of furniture was still there but the church was OK with me leaving it there. I lived with Ilene 8 or 9 months before Mark and I were married and I moved some stuff here. But there is still furniture left in the parsonage! Remodeling will begin probably next year and Mark and I will need to finally do something with the rest of the furniture that the church doesn't want to use for the parsonage. The parsonage will be used to house missionaries on furlow as their "base camp" while in the states.

I said all of that to say that Ilene is still a great friend, who would like it very much if I still lived with her! Mark doesn't mind if I go to her house every day, however. He told her when we married that I could spend as much time with her as I wanted or as she wanted.....which would be all the time if she had her way! ;). So, today, I am so very thankful for my wonderful friend! As her pastor's wife, we could not be best buds! But, now we can be!

Here is my page that I have set up for the first 3 days of my double page spread for the 13th - 18th. The month is flying by!
