I've always loved my Windows. But, when I updated my computer a couple of years ago, it came with Windows 11 installed. It has been nothing but a nightmare. They have made some improvements, due to so many complaints, but there are still improvements that need to be made. For instance, when I put my files on Extra Large View, it doesn't change the size of the file at all; it simply adds space between the files. I've been having some problems with my eyes, so that doesn't help at all. People have been complaining about this since Window's 11 came out, and still nothing has been done.Microsoft Windows!
Thanks, Cindy. I'm concerned that if I switch, the life of a Mac is normally between 3 and 8 years, then I wouldn't be able to afford a new one next time around. I don't want to get used to something, then have to switch back.In 2011, I finally got my dream of owning a MacBook. Mac OS is so much better than Windows. Alas, as off 2020, I am back on Windows. It is just not as good as Mac. I hope to switch back in a year or two
Thanks, Vicky. I've been concerned about the learning curve. At my age, after all these years, I'm not sure I can handle that. Maybe I should practice for a while on my son's Mac before deciding. Thanks for the info! ♥I inherited a Mac from my son. I'm still getting used to it. But I like it so far! There is definitely a learning curve!
Thanks so much, Cheryl. If I decide to switch, I'll definitely hang onto my present set-up, just in case.I tried to switch, but it didn't work out for me. I went back to Windows. Good luck it you do. I know others have switched, but it was just too much for me.
Thanks so much for the info, Tracy. Yes, I've been having some of those freeze-ups. I've read online that Apple's help is great in comparison. I have an iPhone, so transferring everything shouldn't be a problem. I'm not crazy about laptops, so I would stick with a PC. My son would help me get everything ready to roll if I switch.I switched years ago and never looked back. There are some differences, but the website was awesome with explanations and apple help was great. I have the iPhone so it was an easier transition. Also, I switched before I started digital scrapping. In my family 4 out of 5 have iPhones and 2 out of 5 have MacBooks. Hubs wont change because of the excel projects he has that are complex and wont transfer over. One son cant afford the change and one son is anti-apple. I use to have major freeze ups on windows, never had that problem since I switched. I did buy the MacBook Pro and its amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Mac. ♥I switched to Mac laptops and never looked back. And that was before iPhones or iPads - which make the transition easier. I love how Macs respond and work.
I think I would definitely do that! Practice makes perfect! Thanks, Vicky. I've been concerned about the learning curve. At my age, after all these years, I'm not sure I can handle that. Maybe I should practice for a while on my son's Mac before deciding. Thanks for the info! ♥
Thanks, Vicky. Yes, asking Vicki is a great idea. ♥I think I would definitely do that! Practice makes perfect!. However, I still have areas I can't figure out, LOL! If you have any questions, @Vicki Robinson is a good one to ask! She has helped me in the past.
Thank you so much. The pros seem to be outweighing the cons in my thread!I think about ten years ago I inherited a Macbook from my son. Windows was so different from macOS... but google is my friend...
In our family we only have ipad and iphone and we are all connected...
I don't want to go back...
I've always used Microsoft Windows on my PC. But lately, after helping my son process photos on his Mac, I've been thinking of switching to a Mac. Has anyone here made that switch, and are you glad you did? Any pros and cons you can share would be helpful.
I switched several years ago and love the MAC. There is a learning curve though.Thank you so much. The pros seem to be outweighing the cons in my thread!![]()
So glad you love your MAC. I've been looking up some of the differences and see there is quite a learning curve.I switched several years ago and love the MAC. There is a learning curve though.
Going with a Mac Mini will definitely save you money. That is the route I'm going when I switch back. Thanks so much for the info, Tracy. Yes, I've been having some of those freeze-ups. Yes, Cindy, you're reading my mind. I was looking at those. I love how small they are. ♥Going with a Mac Mini will definitely save you money. That is the route I'm going when I switch back.
I have a Mac from 2008 that works just great, an iBook from 2007 that still works. My Mac from 2015 is still chugging on all cylinders. Longevity is never a worry for me with our Macs. Thanks, Cindy. Wow! Susie, that's great. I forgot to ask my son how long he has had his, but I think it's been longer than the average life span of 3 to 8 years I found online. Thanks for the info. ♥I have a Mac from 2008 that works just great, an iBook from 2007 that still works. My Mac from 2015 is still chugging on all cylinders. I hate Mac with a passion. Impossible to work with & only trouble.
