MeowTalk

A few weeks ago I was reading Nat Geo's IG posts and came across an article that talks about using AI to decode animal sounds. One of the apps they mentioned was MeowTalk - which apparently can translate cat into human, so I decided to give it a go. It had a free version, which was the deciding factor for me.

We have two cats, and they are both rather vocal, but getting them to meow at the moment I had my phone trained on them was a bit of a challenge... lol... anyways, I was rather surprised at how accurate the app was. The first time I tried the app was with the cat who is not super friendly and loves being left alone. I saw her sleeping on the sofa and approached with my phone at the ready. She raised her head and did the expected "meow" which was translated as "go away". How typical of her! I sat on the sofa and began scratching her head, and sure enough, she produced another "meow' which the app translated as 'I'm so glad you are here".

We played with the app the whole weekend trying to get our cats to meow in a variety of situations, and about 90% of the translations were accurate. There was even one at 5am when the cat was pacing at the foot of the bed meowing incessantly which turned out to be "I'm hunting". I got up and opened the door to the garden and she bolted out.

Truly, there are no limits to technological progress and human ingenuity.

DUDE....I need to go and download that app!! I really want to know what the different meows mean :beatingheart:

It is funny, just two days ago, I sent this to my daughters saying that I want to try it with our cats! Speaking THEIR language instead :heartpumppink:

Bah....I just tried it on my Luna because she usually does some kind of noise or meow when I come up to her, but all she did was purrrr this time! :rotfl: I will try again another day....:giggle4: She is SUPER vocal, especially early in the morning for food, and asking to go outside!

That is so funny! I don't have cats any more, but maybe I'll try it out the next time I'm at my daughter's house. :kitty:

It is fun... let me know what your cats are saying!
I used the app on my cats and I discover I´m can perfectly understand the meow talk, LoL The say things like "I+m resting!", "look at me, mama!", "food!", LoL but I already knew that. Thanks for sharing the App Olga!! xx

You and me both! But the fact that the app can distinguish the meows without knowing that the context is suggests they are onto something!
