Well, since I'm in Sweden, I really don't have a relationship to Halloween, even though it has started to crawl into Swedish traditions the last, say about 10 years. As always, we just pick out pieces (mainly the scary stuff) of the tradition we "steal" and add vodka. LOL (Seriously, Swedes have a tendency to take any excuse to get drunk!)
But tell me - what are your favorite part of Halloween? Do you have any special traditions in your family? Something you "have to" eat every Halloween?
All I really know is that it's about scary stuff and you dress up.
Oh - and my favorite thing with halloween? Though I rarely can find it here in Sweden - I loooooove candy corn!
Candy corn. Ew. You probably like black licorice too! haha!
In case you haven't noticed my family adores Halloween. I don't think we can pick out one favorite thing about it, but for me, candy is one of the least favorites on my personal list. *ducks as Eva throws things at me*
Even though my "kids" are adults, we still enjoy decorating the house together. We usually watch a few Halloween movies/shows together. Hocus Pocus is a traditional choice, The Always Sunny in Philadelphia Halloween episode (Who Got Dee Pregnant?) is a more contemporary choice.
My house always has a touch of spookiness to it, just ask Braxton. He is our skeleton friend that hangs out in our DR year-round. We also have skulls, skeletons, dragons as everyday decor but we add some more pumpkins, witches, cobwebs (real and fake LOL) in October.
The yard.
Well. Let's just say that Gary (DH) goes all out every year with making props that move and make noise. Every year it is somewhat different. One year he created an entire skeleton band, The Boo Frighters, and rewrote some Foo Fighters songs and had the band play along to it.
Caitlyn (DD) is always spooky- we have called her Spooky Pookie or just plain Spooky/Spooks since she was young. She always dresses in black and her room is also decorated with skulls and ghosts year-round. She lives for this time of year and is thrilled that her b-day is in Sept because everyone knows to get her Halloween decorations/PJs/socks as gifts.
As Scott whispered to me many years ago...
Don't tell Santa but I think Halloween is my favorite holiday."
