Doing newsletters a bit differently!

Hi!

Are you signed up to my newsletter or Rachels?

You may have noticed that Rachel and I now use Substack to send out our newsletter. Over January it is also where we have been hosting our “These Moments Matter” month of challenges.

We are really enjoying using Substack, but I know you may find it a bit different from what you are used to.

So here’s some quick notes:

  • You can simply sign up for and receive our newsletters in your inbox just like you normally would receive a designer’s newsletters.

  • When you sign up there are a few more little steps than you might be used to. For example, you’ll be prompted to decide if you want to follow some other writers or receive their emails. There are a growing number of artists and scrapbookers on Substack, some you might know (like Ali Edwards and some Lilypad scrapbookers) and others that will be new to you. But if you are not interested in receiving newsletters from anyone else, just uncheck all the boxes!

  • In fact, we have enjoyed this new way of connecting and also sharing inspiration, thoughts and creative prompts and challenges so much, that we have also added an optional subscription level with bonus content for anyone who wants to take the connection and creative journey with us further. So that means when you sign up for our newsletter, you will be asked what sort of subscription you are interested in. Just select the 'free' level if you only want shop updates and occasional tutorials etc. It goes without saying that we value everyone who signs up for our newsletter (thank you!) whether they want the bonus goodies and writing or not, and you can always upgrade later if it does appeal.

  • When you are on the site, or in the app, you can also click ‘Notes’ on the toolbar, and that will show you some other little shares we’ve made, like gems we have found from other Substack creatives, updates from our studios, and photos from our everyday lives.

  • Creating a Substack Account will also enable you to engage and interact with us. You may have noticed that you are able to 'like' and add comments to the newsletters you receive in your inbox (and that are also published on our site as linked above).

  • By creating a substack account you will also be able to engage and interact with our chat threads (which is where people have been sharing their 'These Moments Matter" creations). Who knows what fun things we may share with newsletter subscribers down the line!

  • You might like to download the Substack app, which is a fun ‘mobile’ way to follow our content and also see notes with lots of other eye candy and interesting writing. Or just go to Substack homepage and discover new writers and creatives.

Hope that helps!

We’d love you to join us at “Pixels, Paper & Paint - Life in Pictures with Rachel and Lynn”. You can sign up here.
