My name is Susanne and I'll be your host for this GAME.
Kick out 2025 - Tell me what you will not miss in 2025

The year 2025 is rapidly drawing to a close, and if we take a quiet moment to reflect on it,
there might be one or two events we'd rather not experience again in 2026. And that's where our game comes in!

In our game "Kick Out 2025!", we can really let off steam about things
that have annoyed, upset, or challenged us.
Sometimes, though, it's just little things that get on our nerves and give us gray hairs.
Here we can let off steam, kick 2025 to the curb, and then tell something positive
about how we're moving forward or how you solved the problem.
After all, we women are known for our Plan B, aren't we?
Please remember, this is a game, and despite all the everyday annoyances and worries,
it's meant to be fun and uplifting.

I'll start with an incident I don't want to experience again!

My wire-haired dachshund, Anton, injured his spine while playing and suffered a slipped disc, which required surgery at the Medical University. Even if you're familiar with the weak points of dachshunds with their long backs and short legs and take many precautions, it still hits you twice as hard when it happens anyway. Can you imagine what it's like to keep a small, lively, and hyperactive dachshund quiet for a few months? It was a huge challenge for my husband and me this summer, and of course for Paul, our other dachshund, who was completely bewildered since everything now revolved around Anton. Every step had to be monitored, every little walk a task! I put blankets and rugs all over the house so he wouldn't slip. To ensure he took his rest breaks, Anton had to go into an unfamiliar crate :jail1: or he was on a leash where we had some housework to do.
It was a tiring time for all of us!!

But even though he can't romp around like before, we have our lively, playful, and agile dachshund back, whose rear end always seems to race around corners a little faster than the rest of him ♥♥:heartpumpred:♥♥

Here they are, my Sweeties
:xmas8:

Alert: Political in nature. I would kick out Donald Trump and all of his cabinet from office. Peacefully, of course. Our national debt has increased by TWO TRILLION since he's been in office. This administration is selling off our country to any foreign nation with big bucks for their own gain. My biggest worry is that our grandchildren will live in a world that is much more dangerous. I also worry that we are losing our freedoms and rights as citizens. My solution is to help people register to vote. Plus I will vote in every election, including local, state and federal. To me there is much hope for the future. When we join together working to create a much better world, the America dream lives on.

I know you said fun and uplighting, but this is my biggest annoyance. And I sincerely believe our future can be uplifting. Feel free to delete if this is not acceptable, I will understand.

Kicking out all the aches and pains of getting older. Nothing to pinpoint per se, but just in general. My joints are creaky, my eyesight, and just stuff in general!!! I am very happy being retired so if things annoy me I just ignore. There is nothing you can do re things you have no control over so I just move on about my business. I choose to enjoy my life and hope for better health to kick the aches of 2025 to the door!

Hi Christy,
Thanks for your post, even if it might not be welcome here. I promised this is a place to vent!

I understand your frustration very well, especially since we in Europe have our own opinions about your government. And it saddens me that the world is becoming so deeply divided because of it. America was our reliable ally for many years! Please don't be offended if I leave it at that! I really like the women here because we share a hobby, and sometimes—that's how I feel—so much more! I don't want to jeopardize that.

We can certainly discuss this further in a private message if you like!
In any case, I admire your commitment and your willingness to take action instead of just watching. Bravo!!
As I've always said: The world needs committed women!! :peace2:

Oh, you've hit the nail on the head! :flower:
I'm sure there are several ladies here who would agree with you and sigh.
But you also have a solution. Accept what you can't change because it's the way things are going and make the best of it. If the doctors only prescribe ointments and good nutrition, it's time to take care of yourself and treat yourself to some physiotherapy and wellness now and then.:hammock:We hope you continue to enjoy your retirement and your hobby. We appreciate your fantastic layouts!

(It annoys me (ha ha, another annoyance for this thread) that I can't find your signature anywhere and I hope I'm remembering correctly that your name is "Christa" (my mother's name)??? If I'm wrong, please don't be annoyed.) :whistle2:

I'm kicking out bad dog behavior. Our dog has decided to claim his outdoor liberties indoors!! The frequency is increasing. If he doesn't shape up soon, he'll be crated when we aren't home. In the mean time I'm cleaning much too much. :sweeping2:
Oh, Amy! That's awful! :sweeping2:

What's happened? Is there a new pet in the house, or perhaps a grandchild getting more attention than he does? Sometimes it's things like that that can upset a dog. A friend's dog had a kidney stone that caused him to pee in the house.
Perhaps a vet can explain it better. Dementia can also be a trigger. I hope you find the problem and can solve it.
Lots of cuddles for your sweetheart. :hug4:
PS and for you and your nerves, of course!!!

Life would be so much easier if my teenager would actually put her clothes away after I have washed and dried them. They end up everywhere. Yesterday I couldn't open her bedroom door because of the pile of clothing that had fallen over behind it. I will have to make up a new rule in the future so that I don't break something when I enter the room.

I'm going to keep quiet about politics because then I'd be writing a whole epistle. As it is now, I compare it to the series Stranger Things, the evil that is slowly taking over our world. Our leaders are pitting people against each other. We need empathy, love, and kindness for all people and animals. So I'm kicking out the negativity of 2025 to light the world in 2026. I know this is utopian, but I still try to start each new year with this positivity. It will be alright. Bless You all !

Thanks for your post, Angela!
I think quite a few parents are groaning and nodding in agreement with you because they know these situations all too well. :yesss:Those dear little and growing children don't always make life easy. They live in their own world, there's no time to put the laundry back in the closet... Don't get annoyed, the idea of a new rule is a good approach! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll soon be rid of this annoyance and that the young lady will see reason. :xmas-sheep:

You are correct with the spelling of my name :) I don't have a signature LOL I guess I never made one! It is Christa, though and thank you for hosting. I am happy to hear of another person named Christa :) (spelled the only way it should be! :floorlaugh:) Merry Christmas! :xmas4::xmas5::xmas9::christmastree:

This year I noticed that my dog Jona was missing a tooth. The vet discovered that several teeth were broken and that urgent surgery was needed, along with an examination of her dental structure under anesthesia.

She was then put under anesthesia and x-rayed, revealing the extent of the damage. Four teeth had to be surgically removed, one tooth extracted, and two teeth underwent restorative treatment, including tartar removal. It was a major operation; her circulation gave out, and she wasn't well for a few days, but she's doing fine now. To prevent further damage, she's not allowed to chew anything hard. I brush her teeth daily with an enzyme toothpaste (which she only tolerates reluctantly and briefly), and she gets a special enzyme powder sprinkled on her food.

I really hope her dental health stays good now.

Hi Ginette, thanks for your great post! :waving1
That should also be the context for this situation: we can't change it or turn it into something positive. We should accept it calmly and hope that this time will pass and that we can at least learn something from it. This also prevents us from becoming mentally ill later on. Thanks also for the good wishes ♥

Here in Germany, the name used to be quite common. But it has become less frequent. I associate many good things with the name.

I'd like to kick out corporate reorganization where so many lose their jobs. If they would pay the CEO's and board a reasonable salary instead of the excess millions they receive in salary and bonuses, my family members wouldn't have to worry about if they will have a job in a month

Nuage, our cat, brought us a present one evening, which she placed at my feet. Guess what the present was? A small but clever field mouse. It escaped and hid under a dresser. My husband and I, with Nuage's help, spent a long time trying to catch it. Finally, Nuage managed to get her present back, and we quickly put her and her mouse outside in the garden.

SCIATICA!!! UGH. Been dealing with it for a few months, thankfully not every day of those months, but enough to know I want it to GO!!!
iu

Apart from surgery -which at this point is unnecessary, I have learned that very good posture and support make a difference. That and no longer picking up our nearly 7 yr. old GS (he's thin) ! :giggle4:
As to the political issue, :thinking2:I firmly believe the Scripture that says God appoints and removes leaders, sometimes He uses appoints a donkey, others a prince. Also that He listens to the cries of His people, and fervent prayer for our nation(s) makes a difference. :D

:heartpumpred: Awww, what a sweet little mouse, Veronika! :heartpumpred:

Jona has been through a lot with her teeth. Now everything needs to heal, and dental care is essential. A good plan!

It will get better once you stop giving her chew bones and hard toys. Some dogs have literally brittle and unstable teeth. That happens to us humans too.
My Odin alerted us to the fact that something was wrong with his teeth by acting strangely! The vet then discovered that both of his canines were split horizontally! He must have bitten down on a stone while digging for mice and damaged his teeth. The surgery went well, and he was soon back to his old self. But digging and chewing on antler pieces were forbidden. Since then, we've been brushing his teeth with the enzyme cream, just like you.
Anton and Paul have known about brushing from the beginning and think it's normal when we clean their teeth twice a week with cotton finger brushes and once a week with a children's toothbrush. They're almost 9 years old and still have dazzlingly white teeth. That's how much this enzyme cream helps.

All my love and lots of cuddles for my sweetheart!! :kiss2:

My hubby and I will be so happy to keep more of our hard-earned dollars in 2026 due to finally being able to pay off a loan this year that we had to take out several years ago. dance4
Oh, that's great news and a huge help for 2026!!
What a relief it must be to be rid of that stupid loan and finally breathe a little freer! I'm sure you can treat yourselves to a few little wishes. That would be fantastic.
I'm so happy for you!! :bouncing:
Thanks for participating in my game!

2026....i would want the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change those I can and the wisdom to know the difference. People can only take my happiness if I allow them to do so. Sometimes people we know and love cease to exist as the people we knew and even though their body is walking the earth, there is no morale compass left within them. I cannot relinquish my power over my happiness. My life is the stuff reality shows are made of, with hubs warring family, while reality isn't a Hallmark movie, I want serenity of spirit and soul and that is something I have to get for myself. I've gotten lazy about the gym, I've gotten lazy about most things other than scrapping. In 32 days I'm leaving the frozen tundra or Minnesota and going to my little piece of paradise where I can breathe, and stress floats away and I can stare at the beauty of the ocean, and that is the serenity I'm going to hang on to in 2026 because there are some things I just cannot change. This is a bunch of rambling and not uplifting, but it will be again, still rambling no doubt, but lifted higher than it is now.

Thank you for your post, Im44West.
Unfortunately, I can't find your signature either, so I can't address you personally, which is a real shame.
I'm sure many female readers will agree with you and share your thoughts on the disproportionately high salaries in executive suites. This is widening the gap between rich and poor. I believe this has always been the case and always will be worldwide. It's just that now it's reaching proportions that are almost impossible to control or prevent! It's appalling that money is the only thing that rules anymore.
I sincerely hope that your family continues to have jobs and that you can live in peace and good health! :lovey3:

I will not miss the 5-hour plane rides back and forth to do respite care, the narrow, crazy Honolulu streets on which you always have to be in the correct lane or you'll end up somewhere you don't want to be or the poorly-maintained old family car that breaks down repeatedly while I'm driving on said streets. I've got two more trips in Jan and Feb 2026 and then I catch a break (I hope) for a few months. OTOH I am grateful for the amazing people who have been helping my dad out.

Well, it's not exactly pleasant, but you should feel honored by this "great" gift. :whistle2:

Unfortunately, you won't be able to prevent your sweetheart from bringing you a thank-you gift for food and care in 2026 either.
But take it in stride. These are things we can't change. :heartpumpred::kitty1:

I'm agreeing with Ginette @Wimmeke and want to kick out negativity and hateful feelings among peoples. Ok... it's a pipe dream, but wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone was a little kinder with one another? I love our scrapping family for many reasons but the big one is this: we are all creative. I believe just the act of creating makes this a better world. We are all adding beauty to it.

Oh my goodness!! Nobody needs that, Amanda! :(
My mother used to tell me on several occasions that I had pressed on her sciatic nerve during her pregnancy... ouch!!

They say the body changes every seven years... have you reached that magic number yet? Warmth and, of course, not lifting heavy things are a great help. And perhaps acupuncture or homeopathy would help? I hope for you that it disappears one day—like it did for my husband, who always had back problems. Now the flare-ups are rare.

There are times when you can lose all faith when "he" puts us through such tough trials.

Thank you so much for your participation, Amanda, and all the best for your back! :praying2::lovey3:

I'm ready to leave 2025 behind! It was a tough year starting with the sudden death of my big brother. My 90-year old father had to be put in a memory care facility and we sold the last of his beef cattle herd--he'd been farming for more than 60 years! My husband's job (self-employed) took a very unexpected hit and since I'm also self-employed we may not be able to afford healthcare next year. I won't even get into my feelings about what has been happening in our country this year. I was helping an organization that assisted legal refugees--that program has been decimated.

SO...2026. My daughter is getting married! My goal is just to spread love and kindness in my small part of the world. Other than that everything is up in the air.
