Morning ladies... I know that we are all missing Chris, but we hope that she is having the time of her life on her (what she calls) Red Neck Vacation! It is very grey and gloomy here today, but still no rain for us. The smell of smoke fills the air and we have had to close all the windows to keep the stink out. Wild fire is still no where near being under control and I am sure that the high winds we had last night must have made it even more difficult to try to fight it! It is hard to tell weather the dark gloom is from the smoke or if it is clouds moving in. We are of course praying for the rain to finally arrive! So worried that this could be the norm for us from now on, I can't imagine going through this every summer!

Sharon - I forgot about having to take my pills and my swimming gear LOL. I talked to my DH about this question and he said he would try to put his new TV in the truck, but didn't seem too concerned about anything else. MEN!!! Sorry to hear about your niece and her foul mouth! My one sister has a tendency to swear a lot and I am always on her about it. Guess it comes from living a rough life with an alcoholic husband. I always feel like crying when I think about all she has gone through. Really she is the kindest person in the world, she just made some wrong choices in her life and I love her dearly. I bought Mason the cutest pair of dino shoes and a matching cap and now I will worry about their safe arrival with Canada Post!! I will have to take a photo of them to show you.

Jean - Sorry to hear that your sister is still having health issues, but even more sorry that is affecting you so much also! Sending you and her healing thoughts, hopefully things will improve greatly soon!

Nancy - How nice that you could get a night out with the girlies and get away from those Darn Men who have been driving you crazy!! I could use one of those nights also! I had to laugh that you would not mind if your clothes were destroyed I would love a whole new wardrobe also!! :becky: Your burgers sound very yummy!! Wish I could join you for one! Happy Grilling!!

Kristy - Nice to see you here again! My son was the same way when he got his glasses, he could not believe how great it was to be able to actually see everything clearly again!!

Well I had best get breakfast on the go and then some errands to run today. DH and I need to do something that includes getting some kind of exercise this weekend so perhaps a hike somewhere away from the smoke will be in order. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Trudy I can't believe you didn't get any of the rain we had almost all day yesterday. Sure hope it moves your direction today. I've got 2 sons and 4 grandsons out camping this weekend, so I hope the rain is over for them and comes north to relieve you.

Hang in there Jean. We're all pulling for you and your sis.

Nancy, I think you HAVE spoiled your son! I quit making lunches for my children as soon as they could slap peanut butter on a slice of bread! One of the Rules of Retirement for my DH was that he could not expect me to jump up to fix lunch every day (when home alone, I sometimes get absorbed in a digital art or sewing project and don't stop to eat!), so he is the Chief Lunch Preparer (love hearing "Lunch is ready!"). BTW, I'm wid ya on the clothes burning up! Except it is really no fun to shop for clothes when you're past Pleasantly Plump, so it would just present another problem for me.

Maybe another cup of coffee or two will give me courage to face The Open House. I keep telling myself, "By this time tomorrow it will be a fading memory...."

good afternoon again - It is hot today. Got in my walk early but not early enough as I was dog sitting in the am as Rex loves to play catch and he smells things in our backyard like skunks and rabbits. He is such a sweet dog. Have my landscaper drop by and ask if we would sell him one of our slate slabs. LOL. We did so now we have money to go out. Spent yesterday cleaning and it feels good to have a nice looking home.

Trudy so sorry they have not put out the fire. I hope you get some rain to douse the flames. What a bummer not to be able to be outside!

Sharon yes I guess he is a spoiled kid LOL. It is nice to have your DH take over for lunch. He is mr romance! My DH does a lot of cooking so I really do not ever complain about him. Hope the coffee makes the Open House tolerable!

Have a great day all!

Not sure what's on tap for today. Hope my nephew came to town to see his mother. Yesterday I got in a nice long phone chat with a friend who really understands - but doesn't have to live with any of it!

Trudy, sure hope those are rain clouds and that they'll dump on that fire.

Sharron, I'm with you on not wanting to replace clothes. I hate shopping and need large sizes. Hope the open house goes well and is soon in your rear view mirror.

Nancy, how can you say no to dog-sitting when you seem to really enjoy that dog? Hope you keep cool with this return to muggy weather that I think we're sharing with NJ.

Kristy, how wonderful it must be for her to see well again!

Happy weekend, everyone!

Good Morning - well it was warm yesterday and again today and probably for the next several days. So I watched baseball and did some scrapping. My son and his girlfriend finally headed to NYC around 4pm. Takes a while for my son to get organized. Today I am not doing much. I am going to get in an early morning walk. I would take Rex but I don't have a leash for him but we have been out playing fetch.

Trudy I am still hearing that the fires are burning. Take care!

Sharon can't wait to see the pages from the camping trip. I know I did not enjoy camping in the rain unless I was in a cabin.

Jean how nice to have a friend on the outside you can talk to who understands. Hope your nephew got down for a visit!

Have a great day all!

Think it's going to be warm again, hope not too much. My nephew did come, but I only know as he was walking out of the hospital as we arrived yesterday. At least we got to talk a little. Sister is about the same.

Nancy, hope it's a good day for you too.

Hi to all who stop by!

Sunshine and blue skies are back here too. Feel bad for my niece that it was cloudy and cold all day yesterday for her open house. ....Which, as it turns out, wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Amazing to me that she really CAN stifle her foul mouth when she thinks she should. The best part was that my BIL gave me his recipe for corn bread, which is the best I've ever had. Amazingly, my DH thinks the same thing. Amazing because we usually don't agree on cornbread. He likes it savory and I like it sweet. This is on the sweet side, but Dave still loved it. I made it this morning to take to a going-away party this afternoon, and it was a big hit.

Hope Chris is enjoying the last few hours of her getaway.

Jean, glad your nephew made it.

Nancy, you've been leaving some wonderful gems in the gallery. Keep it up!

Mocha time for me...a little TV golf....a little nap? LOL
