Hello, O-Fam!
Another morning that I did not want to get out of bed. Gary was up before me and he had coffee waiting at my desk for me. That gave me the nudge I needed to get rolling. He is a good man. :)

I was able to get a lot of stuff done yesterday. Some of it was simple, food shopping was not. But I think I did ok and when Scott saw a few things that I bought for dinners, he was excited. Turkey/tofu tacos one night, I bought low-fat sour cream and cheddar cheese so maybe Gary can have some. Burritos with vegetarian refried beans so both kids are happy. Broccoli rabe and garlic for the pasta - that makes three of us happy. I am not sure of Gary can eat cooked broccoli rabe but maybe he can pick that off and just eat the pasta. (more for the rest of us!)

Got a bunch of housework done and then Cait and I took Dill to the vet. The other 2 came with for moral support hehe! Dilly needs to go back on Friday to have minor surgery for the abscess to be removed. He tried to aspirate it but it is next to her ribs, well under the skin. She will need to be sedated and he will be able to drain it and clean it up. :(

I am off to clean this morning and then... who knows what? Yard work perhaps? Scrapping... I am still behind on my Cheery-O duties this month.

HAGD!!!

Kay- I am so happy for you to have nice cool temps in the morning. We are back into steam-bath mode. Did you get a picture of the rabbit eating the plum? A swimming pool is a good incentive for the kids to be happier about moving.
I wonder if that is why I have problems with scrapping. I start with the challenge and then spend eternity looking for the right photos and kits. Maybe I should try it the other way around and see if I have any better luck.
Designers are *way* under appreciated in this business. Neat that you have such a great relationship with one. That makes me miss being on a designer CT.

Nancy- I imagine having such wonderful results with your one knee is very encouraging to get the other one done. Better to get it done sooner so you can keep traveling without pain, IMHO.
That is crazy about the rains and people getting stranded at Denali. Yeah, no such thing as climate change... grr.
BTW-- did you happen to hear that Chris Christie wants to start a PAC about restoring civility in politics???? Of all people!!! OMG-- so ridiculous of him! :pound:

(For those of you not familiar with NJ politics, Christie was our last governor for 8 (long) years and was not what you would call a poster boy for civility. He would yell at people and reporters and enjoyed being rude. )

Jean- How was the lunch yesterday? That is a really nice thing to do for the MoW volunteers. I don't know anyone personally who has used that, but I see the truck driving in my neighborhood. I get so angry every time they want to slash funding for it.
Yes, I am trying to put myself in my mom's shoes a lot more now as I get older. I am my mother's daughter for sure!!

Kay- that is crazy!! When Caitlyn was in HS, one year they had 7-8 bomb threats. Three in the first month of school, the last was during finals. She would text me during them to let me know that she was ok. The first one really freaked her out when they were outside and she saw all of the police with rifles and the bomb-sniffing dogs. By the end, she was more aggravated which is scary in itself.
Hope that you are able to get everything in the mail today.

Felis-I am with you, I don't understand all of the requirements for lawns to look a certain way especially as the climate changes and water becomes more scarce. I am also with you about the natural armpits-- it is not for me, too many years of society saying that shaving arms and legs is the way to be "right," but I am happy to support women who refuse to have society define themselves.
We are very lucky that we have vets that we like. There have been a few that we have had to use that we didn't like-- but our regular office is amazing and the one that Caitlyn takes the rats to is also fantastic.

Better get my day rolling along... xoxoxo!

good morning - yesterday was great as my car got inspected. Since my DH was home I suggested we just go to the gas station and then go to the Dairy Queen for Blizzards while we wait. Worked out perfectly! It was hot and the ice cream delish and car passed and now I have two years before I have to do this again. Then while I was going to swimming my DH cooked our Blue Apron and even he said it was one of the best. It was simple chicken breasts with an Italian seasoning coating. Then orzo with green beans and red pepper flakes and to top it was a date sauce. My DH is saving the recipe as he like the date sauce so much and it was easy so that was even better. Not much else going on. Tonight going out with my girlfriend for dinner. That is always fun. It seems though that each night we decide to go it the day of the week with the most chance of really bad thunderstorms.

Chris congrats on the food shopping and getting so much accomplished. Your Gary is pretty awesome to have your coffee ready! Sorry the rat has to go back. Your vet sounds so super. I have not heard about the CC new initiative. He could take a few lessons that is for sure!

Kay that is terrible about the fire and bomb scare. I am glad you were not there when it happened and that your mail got stuck. Well I hope you have a good ride to Albuquerque.

Jean well I think the Mets used all of their runs up in the game last night and now the Indians will come back. My girlfriend and her sister in SC also did meals on wheels for a few years. It is such a special organization. Awesome of your DH to be part of a group playing to thank them.

Felis I know that our lawn is the worst of the neighborhood. But we do it ourselves - well my DH does it and he is never going to pay for a lawn company to come in and make it weed free. And friends should be friends because they like you and not because of your things! On that we can totally agree!

Have a great day all!

Can't believe it but I slept in this morning. Didn't wake up until 8!!! Guess my body was telling me it needed the extra sleep.

Turns out that the bomb threat to the Post Office was a hoax threat. But must admit it was scary while it was going on. They finally allowed the PO to open again just before 5 PM but I was too tired to go back then. So will go as soon as I get dressed.

No, I didn't get a photo of the rabbit eating the plum. He scampered away before I could get the camera. Think I will put the camera in the family room so it is handy just in case I see him doing that again.

Chris, why don't you put a serving of pasta to the side for Gary before you add the broccoli rabe to it?? We had to do that for my dad who was allergic to celery. Sounds like you have quite a selection of vegan dishes to fix this coming week.

Well, have to cut this short as I have several things to do before heading to the PO. Have a great day.

Nancy, we crossed posted! Wow, that dish sounds delicious... and double bonus that your DH cooked it. LOL... I used to tease my DH that he had a DQ finder on his car - it would automatically pull into a DQ when we were out and about! Glad you got your car inspected okay and are good for the next 2 years.

LOL... the trip to the local RR PO is about a mile and the trip to the PO in Albuquerque is only 3 miles - so isn't a biggie. Our house is less than a half mile from the border between RR and Albq. The mail carriers were already out on their routes when the threat came in so the mail deliveries weren't affected. I usually go to the PO to mail letters so they go out that same day rather than the next day as the carriers don't get back to the PO until late in the afternoon.

Hi O's...
Chris- I am laughing about Christie wanting to start a PAC of civility. He was alot of hot air...funny!

nancy- we have a DQ within walking distance for our kids and DH and I (We live down the street) so we frequent it often.

Kay- glad there no problems at the Post Office. Thats scary.

My M-in-L is in Missouri to escape the hot weather. She should come back by Halloween when it gets cold up there.

Speaking of lawns-there is a vacant lot across the street from me that recently sold. The owners were going to build but didn't keep the lawn up. Everyone mows once a week and they waited a month and it was knee high. Neighbors kept calling the city to complain. Then he started creating bad bad blood with the neighbors by calling the cops if they parked in front of their house...really??? He even told one neighbor to call his lawn guy if the lawn got too high!!?? The lawn guy did a poor job of mowing and left all the grass on the lot and it looked terrible. Their lawn guy even blew the grass on the neighbors patio. Finally I got tired of it and called Code Enforcement about the lawn. The very next day there is a "For Sale" sign. He didn't want to live in a neighborhood with mean neighbors! All the neighbors are very happy as the guy is a pain.

I am slowly getting back into scrapping...yay!

Good evening, Os. It got pretty muggy today but by Friday it should cool down. I did a LO for the H&S event yesterday for a challenge, so you can get a peek. They sounded good and played some things I hadn't heard them do before. DH actually put together their playlist which they will do again plus two of their bluegrass tunes at a library next month. He wanted to have new material as this will be their third time at this library. It is their best audience! For dinner tonight we went to a steak place we sometimes visit.

Chris, I see you got a LO done and it is lovely. Hope the rest of the day was as good.

Nancy, the DQ sounds good but that is not something I'm doing now. Last year I had a few goodies at an East Coast Custard that were so appealing. Guess it's good I'm not near any of them. And the Mets aren't big on runs tonight, but neither are the Indians as it's tied at 2 in the 10th.

Kay, not sure if a hoax is really that much better than a real threat, both are awful. Pretty neat though you are close to two different POs.

Sharon, good to have you pop in. Can't say Missouri sounds like a cool place, so it must be relative.

Felis, I may go overboard on not caring what others think, at least about some things. Also our yard is not a manicured one. I care about respect, but not the little junk. Glad to see you get that aired.

Ahh, Sharon, why you was so cruel to the poor guy?
I don't need every time to be right, but I every time have arguments. I'm curious to hear yours, if you don't mind!
I hate my neighbors just because example at yours. Grow up people and stop put your nose in others business! This planet needs more nature and less concrete. I was try to broke the mower of one jerk that was mowing around my house. He threatening to call the cops, oh LOL L O L, come on baby, angry idiot against crying lady with size of little bird, guess who they will defend! ;P However he force the mayor to concreting the alley around the whole street :grr: :yell: . Now I have personal mission to bring this place back to the Nature hands. My ancestors paid with their blood for this land and our freedom and I can't give it up. Hmm his too, but this is different as I don't go tell him how to live.

I needs to come down and will try to get back later!

Oh, OK, I'm not sure what I was plan to share. This morning I got only examples why I'm misanthrope. Do you hear about the Wildfires in the Amazon rainforest? They are start before weeks, but news totally not care, they prefer to shows news about local crimes. This is freaking out too, but is that so important for the humanity future?! I had to learn from Instagram, and the worse part is that we can't do anything except being sad. Sometimes, way too often, I think that humanity deserve to suffocate in his plastic and concrete!!! But why the other children of mother Nature to pay the price?
Yesterday I met with the lady from the dog shelter and she was sooo sad and discouraged too! It was kind of irony to trying to cheer here, as I know she is right, but last that I want is people like her to get depressed. As they said in one TV series I like a lot: "This world needs from new world!" .

Jean, love your page! Masking is so good! These days I'm struggling with scraping, can't like anything enough to post it. Oh, new tunes, bet that you enjoyed this! Hmm, what's happened with the library hedgehog? Quilliam! I was so addict to his cam when you share it with us.

Kay, Albuquerque, oh this is the place I know, (yay for me  ) ! One of my favorite movies was about van on a trip to Albuquerque. "Around the Bend" with Josh Lucas, OMG I was so in love whit him at high school. Oh, you live in such a beautiful area!

Chris, bravo about getting so much accomplished! Don't forget to take some ME time, girl! I like the vet I'm chosen, she is very skillful lady. But the vets that works for the fostering program gives me a lot of pain. Fingers crossed all to be fine with Dill's procedure!

Nancy, your diners always sounds so delicious, I think you gives great ideas to the girls that cook! And definitely leaves me hungry, better to go get breakfast now!
