Happy Tuesday to everyone, hope you are all well. Did everyone survive the Facebook Blackout 2021?
I admit it, I think I broke FB and IG. I was on FB Sunday afternoon and accepted a friend request from Tom. That must have been what started this. Then yesterday morning I was on IG for the first time in months. That lit the switch. It is all my fault.
Gary is addicted to FB and had a harder time dealing with it than Scott and me. In his defense, that is how he communicates with the rest of the world. Scott and I both hate FB, if it weren't for Oscraps, I would delete my account.

My "big" project of the day was to clean out the fridge. It should not take an hour and a half to do that but the shelves are all sparkly and the oranges that had been in the bin since the summer are now in the compost pile, along with some soggy celery and the core of a head of lettuce. (Who leaves the few inner leaves and core? ) At least there is room now when I go food shopping today to shove more stuff in it. Unfortunately, I had a huge To-Do List Fail. I was so focused on getting ready for food shopping and meals for the week ahead, I didn't have any idea of what to do for dinner. I ended up texting Scott to see if he could pick up fried chicken from the supermarket on his way home from work.

It rained all day yesterday and it is supposed to be misty today too. I think I am going to scrap this afternoon. I have an idea for a page for a challenge and hope that it makes its way out of my mind and into PS successfully.
And I also need a dinner idea for tonight. Can't leave that until the last minute again.

xoxo

You asked me to watch The Sopranos so I asked Gary if it was on one of the streaming services we subscribe to. He would watch it again but it is on HBO and we don't get that. However, he did say that they are very much like "Newark Italians." As opposed to Parsippany Italians where I grew up LOL However, I come from those Newark Italians.
Census_Bureau_map_of_Newark%2C_New_Jersey.png

This is what he means-A lot of Italians, like my fam, immigrated to NYC through Ellis Island. Some moved out of the City into Newark (others up into Boston). Eventually, they spread a little farther out, but not by a lot. Both sides of my family stayed very close to Newark (BTW-- pronounced Nork. One syllable. Not New-ark. That is Delaware). My dad's family went to South Orange and my mom's in Kearny. I think that is why I talk "harder" than most people in NJ, I have that cawfee and tawk and dawg accent.

AGAIN: No one in NJ says Joisey. No ONE. LOL

Gary grew up in Bloomfield which is a little farther out but still had a lot of Italians. That is also the town where Holstens Creamery is - where they shot the final episode, that is where he got ice cream as a kid and his childhood best friend grew up two blocks down. At any rate, he thinks a lot of it is accurate. Now I want to see it, makes me wonder if it will bring back childhood memories.

@tanteva Did you sleep any more last night? At first, I thought you were BS-ing me about Cinnamon Roll day, see where your constant sarcasm gets you? hahaha!!! Hope it was yummy.

Kay- I am relieved to hear that you did a lot better this time with the shot. I was feeling a bit apprehensive if I am ever eligible. I would do it but not happily since I had such a bad reaction to my 2nd.
How did you do after your shopping, didn't wear yourself out toooo much?

@taxed4ever Good luck working with your list, it has really and truly made a difference. I am even thinking of making a more Long Term list for projects to do once the weather is too cold to be outside. (Like clean out the hall closet, don't wanna do it!) Bet your yard and porch are all ready for the season and holiday. Are your ILs coming for Thanksgiving, how are they holding with their health issues?
If the free postage doesn't kick your butt into gear with your projects, I don't think anything will :D You will get it all done!
Poor Hunter, hope that his ear isn't hurting him too much.

Eva- I personally can't imagine hanging laundry out, not sure why, maybe because we have so many birds/critters in the woods I would worry about it getting pooped on? Good for you for reducing electricity with the wash so it isn't so bad that you had lots of screens *G*

@Cherylndesigns That is another thing I need to do--get a flu shot. It is always something LOL How is your arm feeling? Glad you were able to get your ear looked at at the same time.
Hey now-- I don't think I belong in an All Sarcasm All The Time Club.
Wait. THAT was sarcasm.
Uh-oh! I guess I do belong!

Keep an eye on that Lex, she looks to be a troublemaker

@felis Did you miss IG a lot? I had logged on yesterday morning to see some of your photos and I think that is what broke it all.:p
Scott didn't get a job offer yet but they seem interested in him which would be amazing.
It was a 4-day music festival and they had a good time. It was unfortunately oversold so it was very crowded and they did their best to stay away from people. But they said it was awesome seeing live music again.
I read on Twitter that much of the non-US world uses WhatsApp instead of phone calls and texting since it is free. I had no idea what a mess it must have been for people to communicate with each other if that is what they rely on. I am glad that it came back up so you could stay in touch

Love to you all!

When I saw on the news yesterday that FB and IG was down ... I felt sooo great. I'M FREEEEE! I was so addicted to social media, it was crazy. Now ... I had to hear it on the news, and couldn't care less.

It was that documentary The Social Dilemma on Netflix that made me think I needed to quit social media. When the guy that invented the like button, admitted that he'd gotten hooked on getting likes, I realized just how addictive social media is. I mean, this guy had created the button to make other people get hooked on social media, he KNEW what it was supposed to do, and still he got hooked.

I guess, in a way, I use the scrapping forums in a similar way. To get attention and appreciation. But I think I have better control. Think, that is ... who can be sure if the brain is to be trusted??? No one really likes me anyway. LOL

We have Sopranos on DVD, I guess it's on HBO here as well. I'm really fascinated with that show. Tony Soprano is such an interesting and complex character. I mean - a macho maffioso guy who has to start going to therapy because he has panick attacks! What's not to love about that?!

Didn't get that much sleep last night either, cuz I ended up watching a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey. But I feel better, my stress levels are lower. Made a to do-list and started tick off things. Really helps to break it down for me. If I don't have the list, it feels like it's so much more I need to do, when I have to keep it all in my head. Which reminds ... I haven't ticked anything off today.

Made Borscht this morning. A big batch. Ever tried this soup? I love it. But I think I will make another dish for dinner today, and save the Borscht for Thursday, when we work late. Nice to have dinner ready when you get home at 6.30pm. I think I'm going to make "Plåtmat" today. That's Swedish and means ... "tray food", I guess. Anyway, it was this cook book that was a huge hit in Sweden a couple of years ago. Basically, the concept is to cut veggies into pieces, marinate in oil and spices. Pour it all on a baking tray and bake. Then serve with different toppings and sauces. All based on what's in your cupboards. Easy and left over friendly.

Today, it looks like I will do some kind of potato and cauliflower bake, and maybe a hummus or something. We'll see.

Morning everyone... It is rainy and looks like it will be wet all day long :(. Tomorrow will be the same only raining even harder, so I might not be going on my hike. It's more of a long walk tomorrow, not really a hike and its pretty far away, so it might be a good one to miss. I have far too many things to get done anyway and now starting to feel the pressure to get ready for Thanksgiving. I took a good photo of my front porch so I will try to get a page done with that today. I will be getting my first parcel out in the mail today also, hooray for free shipping!!!

@faerywings - Chris, yes the In-Laws will be coming here for Thanksgiving dinner and so will sister-in-law Linda and her boyfriend. Everyone will be spending the night as FIL admits that he can no longer drive at night anymore. He's not really supposed to be driving at all, but until the Dr. pulls his licence he will keep driving during the day. Well at least he realizes that he should not be out driving in the dark! Poor Hunter is home again from school today, the Dr. thought he should miss at least one more day and he is on Amoxicillin for the infection and hopefully feeling much better by the end of today. He gets very clingy when he is not feeling well and poor Heather spends most of the day sitting with him and consoling him. I told her to get in all the cuddles that she can, because soon he won't let her hug him at all LOL. I hear ya on not wanting to clean out the hall closet!! Ugh, not a fun chore for sure! Hope that you get back on track with your list today!

@tanteva - Eva when Instagram and Facebook went down, I never even noticed LOL I was too darn busy working on my many projects to get out in the mail. I was surprised when I heard about it on the evening news! Glad to hear that your stress levels are going down, hope you get more ticks on your to do list! Yes I have had Borscht, not a huge fan, but good that you really like it!

Face time call coming in from Heather, so better get off of here! Have a great day everyone!

I am here..... (insert big yawn here... miss the similes). Managed to make it to the grocery store and pick-up mail yesterday afternoon. Didn't do much else (except for family chat at 5PM) and was asleep by 8PM... then slept in until 9AM today!!! Since I didn't nap yesterday, guess the body decided to make sure I got some more rest!.... hahaha.... DD#1 called to check on me this morning. She didn't make to the family chat so wanted to know how it went.

I did get a LO for Challenge #1 done but Facebook went down before I could get it posted to some sites there. Just finished getting that done. What a brouhaha that caused all over the world. Glad I was able to ignore it until it was over.

Chris, sure hope that job comes through for Scott. Did you go hide away from Gary as he mumbles and grumbles about FB being down?? Oh... the dreaded clean out the hall closet time!!! You never know what is hiding away in there.

Trudy, saw your front porch photo on FB this morning.... so delightful and really looks like fall! You could send your rain down our way as we need it... but not until next Monday - after the Hot Air Balloon Festival is over. Sounds like you will have a full house over the holiday.

Cheryl... oh, love the fall decorations you put on the front porch/yard. LOL... bet Lexy loves being out in the midst of it.

You gals are making me feel like I should be putting some type of fall decorations out... hmmmm... wonder if my box of fall decorations are in the garage??? or in the attic??? If it is in the attic, I won't be going up there to get it down... NOPE... no way, no how!!! Not going to take a chance of taking a fall by going up there!! Some of the gals from my chapter will be over on Monday for a brown bag lunch - would be nice to have some fall stuff out.

Afternoon all. I'm a little late getting on here today. Quick in and out - I need to make a layout for somebody.

Waving to all and I promise to do more personals tomorrow.

Hello my lovelies! I'm so excited 'cause I'll have 3 free days, YAY!!! There are some delays with material delivery, so will have to work harder at the weekend, but I don't mind. I really needs few days for crocheting only, as my family have lots of holidays at November and December and I'm working on few different gifts at the same moment, depend on my mood. Which isn't a good strategy.
Also I have questions for all of you that crochet. If my family decided to surprise me with new hook ;), which number will be more useful to have, as they don't come in sets? Which is the number that you use most often?

OMG, Chris, today I hate you :p! It seems pretty logical that you are broke the IG, so I can't be friend with you anymore!!! Thank you for the likes, although if you're right and that start the problem they cost me too much stress, better to block you immediately :p! Are you kidding me?! LOL! These memes about people refreshing Instagram every 7 seconds are inspired by me!!! At least I can count it as a dopamine detox day and to not make another one this week. ;)
Now, serious, thank you for the likes! Isn't this lizard the most precious creature? I'm keep looking to see him again when we cross there, as we saw it at garden near to the dog park.
Ouch, it's totally ridiculous they to think that WhatsApp is preferred way for communication because it's cheaper, I think this is one of these hollywood propaganda that makes you think that US is richer than the other part of the world . It's preferred method because these of us that are in multi language communications on poor english used lots of stickers and emoji. Interface of the app is really cute and easy to use, allows lots of phots with direct camera assess and group chat. Texting is way more boring without apps and also I think that disappearing photos makes these apps more preferred way, because of the sexting. I really can't remember the last time when I'm send text message directly, except for voting in games or in campanies for donating money.
Oh, Scott will get that job, I'm pretty sure!
Wait I was thought that Gary's roots are Irish and your's Italian?

Eva, To Do List are must for me too, or I'll get distracted and ending hanging around with the cats for whole day. Also I have this awful habit to start clean the kitchen table and ended washing crystal cups from my parents wedding (yep we never use that, so is important to be cleaned often ). It's so easy to keep and keep, and keep cleaning things just in case, so I definitely needs written schedule to function correctly. Or more free time!

Trudy, OHHHHH I want so much to see the porch! You have such an elegant style always! OMG, I'm so jealous about the free shipping, this is the best things EVER! It's so painful for me to pay for shipping, it's just ridiculous expensive. I never can't buy or sent only one thing as it alone will cost less than the shipping.

Kay, if you make any fall decoration don't forget to take a pics for us here! Family chat is the most important task always!!!
