I am getting ready to bundle up today. The temps are going to be dropping like a stone. Mid-50*s to 19* Brrr. I hope that it warms back up by the weekend so I can finish up raking the leaves. I was thinking that I should go out there yesterday but the wind will blow them all around today anyway.

Instead, I climbed up onto the kitchen counter and scrubbed the dusty grease from the top on the cabinets over the stove. I am not putting any of the decorations back up there unless it is *clean.* I started a box of some items that I don't want for donations. People gave me loads of Disney mugs and glasses over the years that were up there as well as some rusted-on-the-inside Mickey tea kettles. One bin for garbage/recycling, the other for donations.
Gary had to run to the local hardware store because our water filtration is leaking. I was so tempted to go with him and get the paint I want for above the island cabinets. I might go tomorrow. Today I am food shopping and then, I want to finish up the trim in the hallway.

We ate at the DR table last night, first time in a long time since it had been covered paint cans for a week. Cait had made a joke (but said so seriously my jaw dropped) that women shouldn't be scientists. This was right after Scott was talking about his female Environmental Chem professor. He was also joking but deadpan. I had to interrupt b/c I know that *structurally* there is no difference between male/female brains. I learned that from helping Cait study Neuro Pysch last semester. Scott thought that men had more grey matter and women had more white matter and that turned into a huge discussion of how neural networks grow based on different learning experiences. And so on. Gary and my heads were like watching a tennis match between the two of them. Fascinating. Then it turned into a discussion of how geologists "eat rocks." You know-- balance :pound:
(In case you were missing this bit of trivia in life, geologists will lick/taste rocks to determine their mineral content, For one of his Geo classes, Scott has to do that to ID samples. Which led to many jokes of how he eats rocks. Just a normal occurrence in the Faery Household ya know.)

So that is about it. Have a fab day and stay warm if this Arctic Blast is oming your way too. Hugs!

Nancy- I have a hard time with knowing what to say on Veteran's Day too. I know it is *not* Happy for Memorial Day. And some vets seem to hate it when you "thank them for their service." I guess it seems trite? That is pretty special that you have your grandpa's dog tags and bugle. Have you ever scrapped them?
I wish that my dad recognized himself as a vet when I was a kid, or even when my kids were little. He did two "tours" in the National Guard and we never know until recently. He does go to Christopher's school event for vets for the last few years so I am happy that at least Christopher knows it.
I cannot imagine having a loved one be MIA. The non-closure has to be horrible.
I have a question for you re: the Medicare sign up. My parents are struggling with it. They each have straight Medicare and Plan D but it has always been basic coverage and OMG they are getting *slammed* with my mom's hospital bills. I suggested that they see if their town's Senior Center has a Medicare navigator or advocate to help them go through the different options. Is that where you went or is there another way to do it? Gary can't help b/c his Social Security and Medicare is apparently run differently since he is Disabled.

*screams internally-there has to be an easier way!!!!*
Thank you so much for any advice.

Felis- yay!! So happy to hear that you are doing well and are happy. The Christmas commercials are in full force and it is going to be here soon. I need to start getting ready.
 I pray for peace too. Until then, I snuggle with dogs and rats.

Love to all of you!

Back to waking up at 4:30 AM!!! UGH!!! Could be because there was a full moon shining on the door blinds beside my bed. Looked like a spotlight on the door! Kept dreaming that DH was telling me it was time to get up...

Yep, the door to the arctic is wide open... woke up to 27 degrees outside. Brrrr!!! Wish I could stay home bundled up under my fuzzy throw but have a Red Hat Chapter lunch gathering. It is our annual planning session for next year. It got cancelled last month due to a death in our Queen's family.

Need to get my shower early as the pest control will be here to spray. Just waiting for the house to heat up so I don't freeze as I shower. 65 is too cold to be getting the bod wet!

Did I mention that I finally sold DH's Bowflex?? Wow... the office sure looks half empty with it out of there. I need to get in there and sort stuff out and get things packed away. DD#1 offered to help me with that chore. I need to get it done by the end of the year... and get all the papers into files for the tax season so I can start the new year with empty file folders. DH was the one who usually took care of that chore. Eventually I need to sort through the bookcase in there and get rid of a bunch of golfing magazines, etc.

Hope you all have a good day.

Morning O-zies!! I was MIA yesterday as we were up early and got ready to go to the local remembrance day parade etc. It was a huge turn out this year, most likely because the sun was shining and it was pretty mild! Today however it is pouring rain, thank goodness we are not getting the cold that the rest of the country is experiencing! Hope everyone is keeping warm and cozy today! Tomorrow the heat pump repair guys are coming to install the new part, so not sure if I will make it out for the hike or not. They are supposed to be here by 8:30 and I have no idea how long it will take to get done. Guess I could have my lunch and backpack ready to go just in case. We made another trip to the In-Laws after the ceremony and DH got the boat out of the water and then cleaned the gutters on the huge shop that FIL has on property. They have not been done since the last time DH cleaned them 5 yrs ago. I helped MIL do some cleaning in the house and then we went outside to kill some of the dandelions she has been trying to get rid of. We got home in time for supper and then it was early to bed.

Chris - Your kids are the best!! It must be so fun to listen to them talking all about such interesting stuff! Guess they will learn more than we ever could have hoped to, how wonderful! You have been a cleaning and freshening up whirlwind lately, you house is going to look sparkly clean and new!! Nice to get that greasy dust off the top of the cupboards!! A job that I should probably get done soon too! Nice that you finally got to sit at your pretty dining room table again! Hope that you manage to get your paint for the rest of your projects soon!

Nancy - I passed along your thanks to my Son and DIL for their service and to my DH also, although my DH says that he doesn't really deserve it LOL. Our son marched in parade at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, it was cold but he said it was such an honor to be there! Please thank your son for his service also, what would we do without our brave boys!! How special for you to have your grandads WW1 bugle and tags! Have you done anything with them like display them in a shadow box?? I have DH's great grandad's war items including his pistol and medals. I had a dream a few years back that he wanted me to do something with them at the time I did not have his things, but strangely DH's Aunt phoned a week later and asked if we would be interested in having all his things. ( how freaky is that??) . So I said yes of course and got busy putting together a shadow box to display them all in. I really should do a page with them! I guess you have heard that Don Cherry has been fired from Coach's Corner and you are right his opinions are his own and don't represent the way most of us feel! He has always been a bit of a blow hard and should have retired a few years back. Guess this was the last straw between him and the NHL! I saw that your Devils won against the Canucks, that must have been nice for you to see them win!

Felis - I am happy to hear that you are doing well and are in good spirits! Yes Christmas is just around the corner and I only have 3 of my calendar pages done. I better get a move on as this month will be over before I know it! Hope you manage to get all of your goals completed too!

Kay - Great news that you finally sold the Bowflex machine! It must make so much more room for you! It sounds very chilly at your place! Hope it warms up for you soon! Yes 65 is to cold to hop in the shower and get all wet brrrrr!! Have fun at your Red Hat meeting today, nice to get out for a lunch with the gals!!

Well I need to get into the shower too and get this day started. I have lots of painting and other little jobs to get done today! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Not only cold here but snowing and blowing. Looks like winter except lot of leaves still on trees.

Wishing you all to keep warm and cozy.
