Ok ladies, let's wrap up this month!
Usually, January is such a bleak time of year but this one wasn't so bad. I think not having to stress over the cold and snow helped. I say that now before the cold front moves in on Friday. It is supposed to be 17*F on Friday and 11* on Saturday. I am thinking that the FP is not going to happen. It's too cold for me and way too cold for the volunteers. But for today I am going to ignore the light snow falling since it's going to get close to 40* this morning.

I had a decent day yesterday, quiet but decent. I scrubbed the kids' bathroom, it needed it. Badly. Ran laundry, washed dishes, and worked on the grocery order. Such a good little housewife, eh? (*vomits* I can't even say that jokingly LOL)
I am going to my mom's this morning. I am going to help her clean out her closet, she has so many clothes that are the wrong size or are so old and outdated. She had blouses that were my grandmother's. Who passed away in 1993. She can't get rid of them because what if someone wants them? OK, Mom-- so donate them, there are women's shelters that take "office" clothes for women trying to get a job. No, what if Caitlyn wants them for work? Ummmm-- sure mom, Caitlyn is going to wear a blouse from the 1980s to work. Uh-huh.
She is also pulling out another photo album for me to go through. That will be fun.

Thank you all for the good thoughts for my nephew. My BFF texted yesterday that he got an offer for a paid internship in DC. It's not a lot of money and it is only for a few months but better than nothing. He also heard from a friend whose dad works somewhere he had applied, so he is trying to find out what that is about before he makes a decision on the internship. So potentially two places he could land.

hope you all have a wonderful day!

Caitlyn made us Lemon Drops with Lavender/Rosemary vodka. Yum ;)

@BrightEyes How is the arm doing today, Kay, is that the same one that was giving you trouble the last few months? I don't think so, now that I think of it. It had to be your right hand and arm or you would have been able to scrap still.
What a project you are working on, writing all of the stories of where you lived, that is impressive considering *all* of the places you lived. I can count mine on one hand- and still have fingers left over :D

Yay for selling the car!!! Good job! Hope that his wife wants the treadmill, wouldn't that be great?

@LSlycord I have lost posts here but sometimes I can get it back as a draft. I am never sure how I do it, it just seems to happen. Either I refreshed the page, or I found it by looking at my profile and I go where I was last "seen." Try them out and maybe you will get lucky. If anyone knows the secret, do tell #predict

I am so glad that you are feeling better!
Yes. the job market is so weird and I guess since he is in a specific field where interns are plentiful, no one wants to hire someone FT.

@vickyday I am sure that you and the girls came back from the retreat spiritually refreshed- and hopefully, not too tired, it sounds like a long day even if enjoyable.
Right before Covid hit, Caitlyn did an interview with my mom. She recorded it and I have the zip of it on my computer. I know there will be a day that I am going to want and need to hear her voice again. Perhaps hearing Caitlyn at the same time will help. (Sometimes I feel like I am always preparing for that day and I don't know if that is mentally healthy or not :( )
I could probably be fine quarantined by *myself* with no problem. Like you said, books, computer, audiobooks, yarn. Good to go. Put Gary in here with me- ahhhhhhh!!!!! Keep all sharp objects away. Bwahaha! JK- I adore him ♥
I can 100% see Mark quarantining quite happily in the woods. You might have to drag him back up if he gets too cozy down there ;)

@bcgal00 I hope that you and Jan had a nice time at the Falls and that helped her rebalance. Being outside always helps me reset myself-- as you all know. :D Much luck to Jen when she is ready to look for another job. It stinks that this woman made it so difficult for her.

@taxed4ever Did you see Vera's post about partying and being older? :hosed:
Thank goodness for coffee. Did you and your Gary make it through the day in one piece? No leaving bits of yourselves behind as you drag your butts?
Sending good thoughts to Heather. Has she had any luck with the travel agent stuff?

@Cherylndesigns Ugh!! How much snow fell by you? I saw the weather alerts for TX - is that part of what you are getting? Hope that you are all warm and cozy!
See, I am the other way with wine and most alcohol, I am fine with the cheap stuff. Everyone who comes to my house knows that I drink wine from a box-- Black Box Pino Grigio is actually pretty good, much better than Almaden or Franzia. Franzia is ok as long as it is really cold.
My nephew has tried anxiety meds and I think he did some therapy a couple of years ago. he is such a "together" guy so it's hard to think of him being depressed.
Ava is a force of nature. Is there anything that she can't do well, other than possibly sitting still?

Love to you all!

@faerywings #clap #cheer1So excited to hear about your nephew. I'm praying for him again today...that he knows what decision to make that furthers him on his path.

Yesterday, we found two rats in the pool. The birdseed has now all been packed up and the bird feeder has come down. The day after the bluebird showed up. And, of course, the worst part is that the grumpy neighbor was right. I was so sad. But the weather was good...a little too warm but since it was so chilly this weekend, the house stayed cool in spite of the heat. Low 80's for the next couple of days.

I really don't know what to think about the month of January ending. How did that happen? I'm supposed to hear this week about the job. And I am sending my tax stuff off today! So that will be done. A quick run to the store will finish it off.

@bcgal00 I saw your pictures of the waterfall. WOW! That looks amazing. I would love to see it when it starts melting. I guess I will need to count on you to show it to us through the lens of your camera. Speaking of cameras....we need an emoji with a camera.

@faerywings maybe you can talk your mom into saving one outfit from the 80's in case Caitlyn ever wants to dress up for a theme party. Then the rest can go. Good luck with that. I can usually find a draft as well. But this time I must have hit some delete key by accident...and it cut everything but the emoji. I was beyond disgusted. So, of course, I am hitting the save draft key over and over this morning. Oh no, I'm not.

@BrightEyes I am so happy that you were able to reach an agreement with the salesperson on the SUV. Now, if they decide to take the treadmill off your hands, life is great.

@taxed4ever you party animal. Hope DH got some rest last night.

@vickyday 9:30 isn't too bad. Hope that you were refreshed after that day of preaching/worship/fellowship.

@Cherylndesigns I'm feeling really good and Brian is getting better. Maybe another day or two and he will be back to normal completely. Hope that you didn't get too much snow. But January is coming to an end...and so you are about ready for springtime.

Ok ladies. Off to refill the coffee cup and then get this day started.

Morning, all. High humidity and cold weather means 'Old Arthur' has decided to visit! Ugh!! He has been flirting around the past few days but I have been ignoring him. Need to spend an hour with the heated chair massager to loosen up the tight muscles in the back. The fronts moving through are not helping.

@faerywings You are right... it is the left arm that I slept wrong on... and it is the right arm that was giving me problems before. Wow... that is COLD!!! And with snow, too!!! Wrap up and stay warm. Wouldn't want to be going to FP in that cold weather. I hear you about helping your mom weed out old clothes from her closet. I had to do the same with my mom several years ago. I like Linda's suggestion about her saving 1 80's outfit for Cait and donating the rest.

LOL... no I am not writing the stories of all the houses I lived in my hometown yet. I was trying to get the houses/years written down so I have it to refer to when I start writing some of the stories. My family lived in rentals until after I got married when they bought their 1st and only house. I am lucky that the years/places DH and I lived are listed in his Navy/Grumman albums.

@LSlycord I have lost posts, too. So frustrating especially if it was a long post. Wow, you are on the ball with getting your taxes done early. I am still waiting for tax info to come in. I need to make an appointment with my accountant for the end of Feb. I should have all the reports by then. So sorry about the rats showing up in the pool. Guess it is good to take the bird feeder down after all. Hope you are feeling better.

@Cherylndesigns I was thinking about you when I saw where TX, OK, and MO were getting hit with cold, snow and icy conditions. Need to call DD#2 and see how they did (Branson, MO). SonInLaw had posted photos of the several inches of snow they got a few days ago. Saw some of your LOs... so cool!

The massager is calling me... then it will be time to head out for the doctor's appt this morning.

No matter how much you think you have prepared for "that day" it is not enough! The emotions that flood in because "now it is real" takes over any preparation you "thought" you had! Guilt comes in the form of....."I wish I had"....."I wish I had not".......But it eventually eases and you can look back to all of the good memories. Get Caitlyn to record your dad, too.......and both of them together! I wish I had thought to do that with mom and dad and Tim! My oldest was so attached to her dad that she still has hard days of missing him. Enjoy every minute with them that you can!

Yes, we got back in time for Carolyn to hit the bed. She is the early one of our trio! Early to bed, early to rise. Ilene is usually up until 11 and up around 8. Me.....well, that's another story, LOL! We had a wonderful time yesterday!

Morning ladies... woke up to snow this morning and DH had to take my CRV as the hill has not been plowed yet and his truck would never make it up the other hill to the highway. He curses his truck and himself for not having 4 wheel drive whenever it snows LOL. So my Gary got to play with his snowblower this morning and clear the driveway to get the car out of the garage. Winter is certainly not done with us yet! We are both feeling back to normal today, yesterday went fast for my DH as he was super busy at work, but my day dragged and I was not very productive at all. Serves me right, I should know better #crazy-2Today will be busy with month end things and stuff and hopefully I will get a page done for one of the upcoming challenges in February. I need to drop off a parcel to the post office, but I guess that won't happen until I have my CRV back at lunchtime.

@faerywings - How nice to know that you will be able to listen to your Mother's voice one day when you need to. I sure wish I would have thought to record my Mom and Dad while they were still with us! Good luck with the clothes and purging at your Parents today, she sounds like my MIL having a hard time getting rid of anything. I agree with the others, perhaps saving an outfit for a retro party one day. No Heather has had no luck with the Travel Agent stuff, seems everyone books their own vacations these days or they are not going on any big holidays. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for her please, she really could use the extra money! We help out where we can, but she hates to ask for anything. I got her a new down duvet for her birthday, its an early gift as her birthday isn't until Feb 16th, but its really cold out there and her old duvet is thin and worn out. It arrived yesterday and she was so happy!! I miss her like crazy!! :(

@LSlycord - Oh that is sad that you had to take down your feeder, the same thing happened to our neighbours across the street a few years ago. Last thing you want are rats hanging around (sorry Chris). I hate that your grumpy neighbour was right though. Sorry you won't be able to watch the beautiful birds come to your backyard! Yes January has flown by, how did that happen?? Hope you get your tax stuff all done, we need to do the same.

@BrightEyes - Sorry to hear that your Arthur has come to visit you again grrr!! Hope the chair makes you feel a lot better! Good wishes to you on your Dr. appointment today! Enjoy driving your new beautiful car!!

@bcgal00 - Wow your photos of the frozen waterfall were all stunning! Thanks for sharing them with us on facebook! Looks like a great place for a day visit! Did you get to sit in the Hot Tub when you got home to warm up?? I am totally jealous LOL.

@vickyday - Sounds like you had a good day with the ladies and that you made it home before it was too late!

Ok I need to get going with month end things here and then get myself into the shower and get on with the rest of my day, hopefully it won't be a day filled with shovelling snow!! I need to get the front steps cleared off as I am expecting a parcel to arrive today. Have a wonderful last day of January!

Good Morning Ladies,
I cannot believe this is the last day of January! I do like wrapping up a month and starting a new one here, however! I did all regular challenges except the Fantasy one and the designer ones. I did a couple of the designer ones, even winning a coupon in one of them! I need to do those designer ones first because I always forget about them!

Our trio of friends had a great day at the Preachers' meeting yesterday. Good preaching. Good singing. Good food. Good fellowship! Mark did not join us after work. He was fighting a headache after a hard day at work. The messages were recorded on facebook, so he will be able to listen to them.

The three of us were planning on getting together today for lunch and play, but my gut is acting up and I'm dealing with a headache, too. Drat this weather! It is dark and gloomy and 50°. I think I will probably lay back down for a bit when I am finished here and listen to my audiobook. Turns out Carolyn was not going to be able to join us today, either. Just as well with this weather.

Well, I think I will fix myself some coffee and lean my recliner back instead of going to bed and listen to my audiobook. Hopefully the tylenol will kick in soon.

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. Woke up to snow falling. Today and tomorrow it'll snow. I'm happy to see it b/c soon the snow should be done for the year and I'll miss seeing the snowy hills. The weather this past year has been atypical for many areas so who knows what this year brings, but generally, the snow should be gone by mid to late Feb and then it warms up. We were out here last Feb looking at homes so I remember that it was chilly at night but daytime was very mild.

Yesterday the pups had an absolute blast at the park. It was -5 F but we dressed warm. The 8-12" of snow was crusty in most spots so you didn't sink in to the bottom, you could easily walk on it. The ice was everywhere so we had to be careful, we were slipping often but no one fell. We were the only people at the 3 falls that we went to and the dogs were in heaven, racing around. This year they didn't get anywhere near the usual snowfall amount and the falls weren't as frozen as usual but it was still spectacular to see. My only problem was that my gloves were too bulky, making it hard to maneuver the camera. I tried with fingerless gloves on but in just a few min my fingers burned and then went numb so I knew that was not a good idea. For next year I'll be looking for a good pair of thin gloves but well insulated.

Jen's car has cracked fiberglass at the front of the car, no idea how that happened, it is just above the windshield rubber so wasn't noticeable unless you looked closely but it goes across most of the car. That was the weird sound we were hearing, as air was going thru there when driving. She'll bring it in this morning and one of us will pick her up from the dealership which is close by. She's on our insurance so can use our car when needed until repairs are done which will take awhile I'm sure.

Last night we had keto pizza for dinner (cheese crust) and wings. Yum. Being keto is difficult when dining out so was happy to find somewhere that made keto crust. I think there is one other restaurant out here that does it too so I'll try that another time. We don't eat out often anymore anyway, it is so expensive. I'd rather eat at home.

Today I'll get some CT work done and maybe go to the park if the snow lets up this afternoon for a bit but I don't think it will.

@faerywings So glad to hear that there is an opportunity for your nephew and hopefully even a full time job offer too. Tell you mom to purge and donate. If I can do it, she can :) I was a clothes hoarder for many years and now I only have what I know fits and I will wear. If I bring something new into the house, then something older has to go to charity.

@BrightEyes Heated chair massage sounds wonderful. My hubs used to have one and he loved it.

@taxed4ever We are getting snow today too.

@LSlycord Sorry to hear of the rats and bringing the feeder down. We get a few small field mice here but they don't last long b/c of the wildlife here. Not many small rodents around here. I almost never see squirrels or mice and no rats.

@vickyday Hope the tylenol kicks in soon. My hubs had a splitting headache this morning and sore shoulders.

Remi is poking me, wanting to go feed the birds. Gotta go LOL HAGD

Good afternoon all.

Well, we're "socked in" here - we didn't get a lot of snow, but the sleet is pelting the windows. We're not going anywhere for today at least. It's 23 at the moment and going down to 19 tonight. Good news - it's supposed to be 54 by Friday! Thankfully this isn't going to hang around long. Kay @BrightEyes I have to tell you that "Old Arthur:" has me in his grips, too. I haven't heard anybody call it that for so long - I call it "Old Arthus" all the time. You made me chuckle. I'm having a hard time even typing this morning. The second joints of my fingers are barking really loudly. Come on, Tylenol - kick in - it hasn't yet. UGH

Chris @faerywings or should I call you "Queen of Housekeeping"??? :rotfl:LOVE the pictures of your infused Vodka - Oh, the others drink Lemon Drops all the time. I had to LOL about you liking the "cheap stuff". I just don't like the wine that they sell in the restaurants, usually. Actually, boxed wine is really good - I never thought I'd say that, but it is! A lot of wine drinkers have started buying it. We like that it's easier to store - no bottles banging around. As far as anything but wine, I wouldn't know the difference. I think I'm the only one in the family who only drinks wine.

OKAY - Linda @LSlycord Chris @faerywings and whoever else talked about losing your long replies in here. Here's what I do - because it has happened to me a few times. Like today, I'm typing a long reply, so every so often I "copy" what I've typed so far, and it my text disappears, I can hit "paste" and voila! That's my "work around". There's nothing more maddening that losing everything you've typed!! Hope this helps.

Kay @BrightEyes I hope your kids are ok. We're always in that "triangle" with MO and TX. We're in a little "pocket" where we live and sometimes the worst of the snow misses us. We just got sleet and ice.

I missed the frozen waterfall picture from Rae @bcgal00 and will have to go look at it.

Hello to Trudy @taxed4ever and Vicky @vickyday and I hope you all have a good day.

Linda @LSlycord sorry about your bird feeder - you don't want vermin running around, though. UGH dead rats in your pool. (Sorry Chris) - I hated to find anything floating in our pool! One time, a snake got in through the drainpipe and I about had a heart attack!

I really have to work on month end stuff today - I didn't get much done yesterday. I also have some other CT stuff to finish up. I have reveals tonight.

XOXO
