We have another Feb birthday: Happy birthday Vicki
Wishing Momma O a fantastic day and year ahead.

Sometimes I make bad choices. Yesterday was one of those times. I thought that dusting my office would loosen up the back muscles. Well. It might have worked if I only dusted. But you know me ;) I climbed on my desk to clean the shelves, climbed under the desk to vacuum the dust and dog hair there. Annnnd, by the end of the day, I could barely stand. Yay me. Pain patch, heat pack, and pain meds and I am better today. As long as I don't mess it up again.

For anyone taking bets on which phone call comes through first- still nothing from the washing machine tech or the county or the electric company. 0/3. No surprise there.
I have to pick up groceries and run a couple of errands this morning and then I am going to be home on my butt. And wait for the phone to ring. Ha. *eye roll*
Good news at least that the temps will be around 40* today. That is very good news.
Spring is on its way!

OMG! It's freezing here...We just had another snow storm...35 centimeters 2 days ago not counting the extra...I don't know last night...Another 20 centimeters of snow!!!...Lucky You!...I think we are getting more today...enough already...go away snow & cold!... o_O...

Sorry you hurt your back...I'm familiar with back pain on the regular each day...Take care of yourself...

Good Luck! waiting for your phone calls!...

@LSlycord I love the idea of adding Spring to your paper chain. How is Hayden's ear infection?
Woot!! Congrats on the job!! *woo hoo happy dancin'!*
Who knows, maybe it will take an extra day or so to do the background checks but it sounds like you are ready. Will you be able to work remotely?
I am so happy for Decker too, Shaun must be over the moon!

Scott actually wants to try sap tapping here- at my house. He says that you can use red maples as well as sugar maples, you just need more sap. And you can boil the sap down using a crock pot so no one has to be at the stove 24/7. I have no idea how it will taste but how cool with it be to try? He is going to be at Weis tomorrow and will ask around to see where the best place to get the spire/speil/spigot you bang into the tree thingy LOL and some food-safe buckets to collect the sap.
Thanks, I think he will be a great park ranger/educational hike leader too. :) Heis going in tomorrow to write a program for a series of hikes that focus on how climate change affects plants and wildlife through the seasons (like how one year the forsythia went into full bloom in January or wildlife loses their winter fur too early and then freeze when the temps go back to normal).

@taxed4ever yay for the sunshine!! It is out right now here too and I am gonna revel in it! (from inside, where it is warmer). That is awesome how fast the patio set sold. That is too bad that you didn't ask for more. but at least it is gone and you have a few extra $$.

@mom2triplets04 I cannot imagine having three seniors at the same time. The mail must come in buckets! haha!

(I know I am always butting in, but I am a big advocate for Community College. Both of my kids went to Passaic County - Scott for 3 years - he was undecided at first, Cait for 2, and then they both transferred into Ramapo State College. Scott was able to pay off all of his student loans right after he graduated and Cait is going to graduate with her Masters with less than $40,000. IIRC, NJ now has community college tuition for free? Just something to keep in mind. My kids said that they felt that the education at Passaic county was just as good, better than in some cases as the 4-year school. Again, please always take my advice with a grain of salt, and please don't think I am being nosy/pushy. Just a different perspective having BTDT :) )

@Cherylndesigns I guess Manic Monday is cheerier than I Don't Like Mondays. ;) wahhhhhh!! I want 65*!!!!
I would drive to Adrienne's too. I know exactly what you mean, I feel super cautious when I am outside with the dogs on their leads after being taken down twice. Always better to be safe as long as it doesn't run into paranoid. Whoops!! Too late for me! You too? ha!!!!
Could you imagine if one day the house returns the tutu and puts it on Braxton?? :D:D My house really does take things, and sometimes returns them. That is such a nice pic of Ava and Ryan. I would have ahead time dating someone who had to be out in the cold all of the time.
Tell her to send me the friend request again, I didn't get it. Thx!
*cheering you one with your Amazon Boycott* It's your own version of Dry January hahaha!!!!

@scrap-genie Ooooooh, that page is beautiful!!!! It gives me hope!!!
Seeing the birds on usual migration patterns would be exactly what he is working on with his new project. It has to be neat yet disconcerting to see birds when and where they shouldn't be.

@tanteva hope you are hanging in, we miss the sarcasm!

Hugs to everyone!

Good morning ladies! I slept until 7:15 this morning. Honestly, I don't know what's up with me and sleeping late but I love it. I told Brian that I need to get out of my system since I'm going back to work. Then, he reminded me that it is work from home, so there is no commute. They did mention that they are trying to get people to use their cameras more so I think that I may need to get cleaned up prior to starting my workday. At least get the top half of me cleaned up....LOL!

Today I need to take Andie to the vet...good grief. She needs her annual shots and heartworm medicine. So off we go to the vet, again. And she gets nervous and isn't her normal, laid back self. So that is a challenge with 90+ pounds tugging on a leash to go home. Syd came in to remind me of the vet appointment and I told her that I had been thinking about it since I woke up. Then I told her, that's what old people do. They think about the one thing that needs accomplished. She didn't find it funny. She doesn't like that I'm old.

And, I almost feel like I need to take Decker to the vet to get heartworm medicine as well. I mean, even if we get the six month supply, we could pass it on to the people who adopt him. Or not...we will see. But each day that goes by, seems to be more and more likely that we can make this work. Brian last night was sitting on the sofa with Decker in his lap telling him what a good boy he is.

@faerywings I am so sorry that you hurt your back. I'd scold for overdoing it...but I understand. Sometimes we just want to feel that we can do things without being careful and thinking about it. But, you do need to be careful and think about it because who wants pain? Pain=The constant reminder of age. That sounds like a quote for a scrapbook page. ;) Love that Scott wants to try tapping your trees for syrup...that is so cool. And I love the presentation that he is working on. The last couple of years in Iowa, the lilacs have bloomed in the late fall. Lilacs bloom for Mother's Day! Seriously, the world is changing so fast!

A really quick in and out this morning. Have the Red Hat chapter gals coming for lunch. And wouldn't you know... the pest control guy is coming this morning! Told the gal who called yesterday that he needs to be done by 10AM. Thank goodness it is all outside spraying (nothing inside) and nearly all the snow has melted. I have the house all ready with table set, drinks/etc in place. Even managed to run the vacuum but now have twinges in the lower back.... grr!!!

@faerywings ... I understand that you didn't think it would bother you to do a bit of cleaning!!! Neither did I! Please try to rest the back as much as possible. WOW.... tapping your maple tree for sap/syrup... way to go, Scott. Great that using a crock pot will reduce it to syrup without anyone having to stand over it all day. BTW... great countdown to Spring!

@LSlycord Congrats on getting the job. Glad it is a work from home so no commute. DD#3 loves that her job is WFH. LOL over 'just making sure the upper part of you is cleaned up' for the camera.... She did that one day - wearing pj pants but dressed on top - then had to stand up to get something..... Oooops! :D ;)

@Cherylndesigns glad you had kept the harness and it helped with the pain. I have all my back braces and foot/leg braces, too. Never know when I am going to need to wear them for awhile. Yes, it would be smart to drive up to Adrienne's then walk to Ava's... no point in taking chances of falling on a rocky road.

@mom2triplets04 Bet your mail is overflowing with college info. I will say that community colleges are really good and give them time to decide what they really want to major in. My last 3 kids (all only 3 years apart) plus myself were all going to college at the same time. I and 2 of them graduated at the same time from the same community college. Sharing the one car between the 3 of them must be difficult.

Need to close this out... pest control guy will be here in just a few... CYL

Morning gals... An over cast morning, rain in the forecast but doesn't look like it will last too long. Tomorrow is hiking day and I am so happy to be getting out there again! It will be a nice easy one, so that is the perfect way to get back at it! Yesterday I spent the entire day getting the grands Valentine's Cards done. I ran out in the afternoon to the local chocolatier to pick up a little something for them and they had the perfect very thin and long chocolate rectangle thingy's that said I love you on them. They should be perfect for putting in with their cards and mailing out to them without having to pay the astronomical price of mailing a package! So today I really need to start scrapping and I really need to get out to the post office to get these cards mailed. I hope that it doesn't take me hours on end to complete a layout. I can't believe how long it takes me to do a page these days!!

@faerywings - Ouch on hurting your back once again!! I hope that you are feeling much better today and are taking it easy! How fun for Scott to try the Sap Tapping!! Wouldn't it be great if he can get enough syrup for your family to enjoy on their pancakes!! Wouldn't it be great if he can get enough that he could maybe sell some?? Maple syrup is so expensive and is like gold in some places!! I hope that this spring has the perfect conditions for getting lots of sap!! Yes it was good to have the old patio set gone and now we just have to get the front porch cleaned up and get the outdoor rug down and put the new set up. We might have to wait for a bit though as apparently there is a fog dome going to hit us again for a few days UGH!!! More fogg!!! No sense putting out the new stuff when it will just sit in the wet fog for days.

@scrap-genie - I just love that layout you did! So beautiful! Gives us all hope that spring is not far away!

@LSlycord - Congrats on the the new job!! I hope you enjoy your new boss and love doing the work! Isn't working from home the best, you don't have to even have pants on LOL. Yikes that a lot of dog to have to drag to the Vet!! Hope its not too much of a struggle for you! I bet that Brian is so happy to still have Decker with you all! Awww poor Syd, not liking that her Momma is getting older, but hey you still have a long way to go before you really are old! ;) .

@RJMJ - Brrr sounds very wintery where you are! Hope the temps warm up soon for you!

@BrightEyes - Have fun with your Red Hat group of ladies today! How nice for you all to be together again! Hope the pest control guy is outta there before they all arrive! Sounds like you have everything all ready to go for your gathering, but too bad that the back is telling you that you over did it! Hope it doesn't give you grief all day!!

Ok Heather is calling so I better run. Have a great day everyone! CYL!!

I'm back for personals.

@BrightEyes so you started this chapter of the Red Hat Club? I love that you already have the table ready to go. Hope that the pest control guy got in and out in time. I must admit, it has crossed my mind that if I only clean up the top half of me...it could be problematic someday. And, really, how much longer will it take to do the bottom half...one minute? Now, in my early days, it would have taken longer because I would have needed to find nylons and make sure that they didn't have any runs. LOL I probably haven't owned a pair of nylons in more than 10 years. That might be scrap worthy! Do they even sell them anymore? Hope lunch was fun!

@taxed4ever excellent news about the fog. I find fog depressing! And even better news about the patio set. I always wonder when I get that much traffic if I shouldn't have priced it higher...but, to tell you the truth, I'm always really glad when it's gone! I hope you have another day without fog and that the weather cooperates so that you can get back out and do hiking and swimming as part of your routine soon.

@mom2triplets04 I am another advocate for community colleges. I will admit that I was a 4 year college snob until just a few years ago. I had the impression of community colleges being the way that they were when I was in college (and don't ask me why I would have thought that since nothing is like it was back then....read the first paragraph about nylons:rolleyes:). I did a field trip with Shaun to our local community college in Iowa when he was an 8th grader and I fell in love with the concept. I was particularly concerned about the massive amounts of debt that the kids might accumulate and being this close to retirement, I knew that we weren't going to be able to make that completely go away for them. Fast forward to now! Education is much cheaper here in Florida than even back in Iowa. Shaun is in his second semester of community college. He made the Dean's list and he is working hard. He also manages to keep a part time job going. And, truth be told, I am so happy that he is living with us.

@RJMJ I'm so glad that you dropped in to the Daily O's to visit us. But you definitely have too much snow. We all need that spring count down!

Sydney is also at the community college and will graduate from high school with both her high school diploma and her AA degree. She is going to move away for college but she should be able to get her bachelors in less than 3 years, depending on whether she does a double major or not. (Depending on where she goes, some of her scholarship money will allow her 4 full years so the double major could actually be pretty cheap.) I think that any of her majors will probably require immediate grad school but I think that loans will be minimal! So, hurray for community college!

@bcgal00 I am sure thinking about you today. Hope that you get the best offers! I loved that page you did yesterday...you look so young!

@scrap-genie loved that genealogy page that you did for the scrap lift. That really got my thoughts going. I just need to go pull out a few photos.

@Cherylndesigns love the photo of your granddaughter and I won't be surprised if I see it soon in a layout! I agree again with everyone else...driving is smart right now. Falling down does nothing for any of us. And you do have a lot of Prime accounts. Jeffy can probably survive for a month without you. He could probably even make it a month without me...but I don't have your will power. Sunday they delivered a carton of Puffs tissue and yesterday a carton of LED daylight lights. I have nothing ordered for today...can I hold off the rest of the week? We will see...

Chris, Chris, Chris @faerywings will you NEVER learn????? Okay - so, I just got up off the floor - I was down on my hands and knees, under my desk doing stuff - as I was down there, I had horrors of falling and breaking my collarbone. I'm a TOTAL BONEHEAD!!! I can't judge anybody!! So, don't do as I say. BWAHAHA

You should let Scott try to tap your maples. It's certainly worth the try! We ALWAYS keep 100% Pure Maple Syrup - it's a staple here - Mrs. Butterworth's is good, but there's nothing like the real thing. I'm sure Scott would make a perfect park ranger - so would Ryan. I'm not sure he's going to get that job, but he'd be perfect.

Glad you liked the picture and I'll tell Ava to send you a friend request again. She says she feels like all of you are her aunties. LOL Yes, you know that the tutu will turn up someday - probably on one of the skellies. Things disappear around here too - they just grow legs. I normally find them eventually. We were talking the other day - I even have towels that disappear. LOL

Rhonda @RJMJ it's good to see you on here - hope you can make it more regularly. We chat about everything here. LOL

Linda @LSlycord that's SO awesome that it's work from home!! Adrienne has worked from home for a long time and she's an HR Director. She's on that computer 8+ hours a day and has a lot of face-to-face calls and meetings. We always laugh about her having to be "camera-ready" when she has to be on. She has to do her makeup and hair. LOL She's often in her pj pants and slippers, but looks great from the waist up. She DOES take about 30 minutes every day to come down here for coffee - she just has to get out of her house. Of course, the whole time she's here, her phone is dinging.

Oh, the dogs and the vet bills. I yi yi.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm SO glad to hear that you kept all of your braces. You're right - you never know. That's such a smart thing to do. Yes, driving up to Adrienne's is what I'm going to do from now on - no use in taking chances. Once you fall, the paranoia sets in.

Trudy @taxed4ever that's so awesome that you're going to start hiking again. Yay for decent weather! Can't wait to hear how it went.

I'm going to go now - (rubbing it in just a bit) - I'm going to go out on the back patio - away from the wind, and sit in the sun. It's SO warm and it felt so good on my face when I let Daisy out just now.

Hugs

Cheryl, @Cherylndesigns you sure are rubbing it in. We've had sun off and on today, on right now, and soon I have to follow the path DH shoveled in the snow out to fill the bird feeder. Those goldfinches have been eating up their seed. Wish you and Chris would quit overdoing!

By contrast to the snow, indoors we still have the poinsettia as DH doesn't cut it back yet and next to it my orchid is in bloom. DH cares for it too. It is the one he bought me three years ago when I was in the hospital over Valentine's. @felis, should I do a LO of the orchid like I do for the poinsettia?

@tanteva Eva, so sorry you aren't feeling well! :( Hope you are better real soon. And we miss you too.

Chris, @faerywings the spring countdown is cheerful, must be a good idea. I still remember early in COVID when you led us through daily relaxations. So daily reminder that spring is coming?

I'm sorry, Jean. If it's any consolation - by the time I got out there, it was still 65, but the darned wind had picked up and it wasn't very warm. My hubby told me I wouldn't want to sit out there and he was right. When I went out, earlier, there was NO wind. LMBO

I would love to see it, you definitely should do that page!
But the poinsettia is my favorite kid, I can't explain it, but it takes very special place in my heart. When you tell us that she is in bloom this brings so much festive feeling. :)
