Ok. I am much more focused this morning. Last night was lame personals.
21 years Chris - I am so happy for you guys. I'm sure that your dinner will be delicious and it will be perfect for the two of you. Maybe you can find something fun at Target to wear though....like in the lingerie aisle!!! ;-)
I have so never been a make up person. I do not browse make up aisles. I head straight for the Clinique counter or the Almay section, get what I need, then go. My nails are the only indulgence for me there.
Ben and I went to the public library in the town I work in and signed up for summer reading. (Where one of my students made Benny-boo cry by calling him annoying...the little punk.) Then we took our lunchables and sat at the pavilion at this beautiful park up the hill. This is what is to the right of the pavilion - I think it's called the Cross of the Four Winds:
Here is a close up of the cross:
And here is the pavilion where we ate.
On my FB pic, you can see Ben standing on the wall looking out. There are miles of rolling land and trails that go through it. If you drive (or walk - crazy idea) around the block to the other side that doesn't really have trails, there is a little playground too. We did that, but not for long because it was hot and I didn't put sunscreen on him either. It was a nice afternoon.
Gallup Strengths are the traits in your life that match your personality and identifying them is supposed to help you be successful. I have to say that they were dead on for me. The first and strongest strength for me was "Input". (When I say that it makes me think of Johnny 5 from the movie "Short Circuit".) Here's a few things about "Input" people.
People with strong Input talents are inquisitive. They always want to know more. They crave information. They like to collect certain
things, such as ideas, books, memorabilia, quotations, or facts. People with strong Input talents bring tools that can facilitate growth and performance. They love to provide relevant and tangible help
to others. Their resourcefulness and curiosity lead them to store knowledge that can be culled and shared.
Perfect for a librarian right?
There are 34 strengths that they identify total, but most of the time people focus on the top 5. I paid $10 to do the assessment and find out my top five. Almost everyone in my class had done it before, so I figured I better do it too. The assessment is 177 paired statements and you pick the one that most describes you. They aren't necessarily opposite things, though sometimes they are. You are supposed to pick the one that matches you more or more often and you only get 20 seconds for each pair so that you go with your gut more. For example, I had one that was "I am tidy" on one end and "I am stubborn" on the other. I went with stubborn.
Air conditioning replaced next Thursday. That's a long time away. We might get portable air conditioners for the house, but I don't know. We might go stay at my Mother-in-Law's too. Problem is, I want to do things around the house, but it's too dang hot and sticky! Hard to clean out the craft room when it's 100 degrees in there. Oh well. #firstworldproblems right?
Phylis - I am beginning to hate Facebook. I miss stuff that I want to see all the time! I don't want my pages feed in with my people feed and I hate that I have to switch back to Most Recent. But sometimes I see I missed things with Most Recent and I don't know how! I know I use the service and I agree to use it for free so it's their prerogative to change it, but I have a feeling that something is going to come along that gives people the control they want and kills Facebook.
3 a.m.? That's harsh. I got up and went to the bathroom around then and went back to bed.
I hate dealing with tech customer service. I hope you can get it fixed!!
I need to go run out today and retrieve my credit card I left at the restaurant where we met last night. I can be such a spaceball. And I might force Ben to go to the pool since it's going to be hot. He has developed a hatred of bugs and leaves and doesn't want to go. But we have nothing on the agenda until baseball later this evening. And since I don't want to clean out cupboards or craft rooms....
Temptation Thursday - Rent a hotel room!
