Happy St. Patrick's Day.
The leprechauns tell me that there are only 6 more days until Spring!

It *finally* felt like Spring. Finally! I was out the yard, picking up sticks and scooping up acorns and I was warm enough to break a sweat. It was too cold to take off my long sleeve T-shirt but plenty warm enough with both layers on. Scott was in the backyard working with a sleeveless T but he is ridiculous anyway. ;)
And boy oh boy, was I excited out there!!! I saw a whole row of crocuses and two sets of tulip stems. When I went to dump a bucket of acorns in the woods, I thought I saw a few of the daffodils poking through the leaves. I cleared the leaves off of them and yay!!!!! I had forgotten that I moved them all into a row along the side of the yard. Their stems are all yellow and bent over but a few days of sunshine and they will be green and strong. *happy dances*
Seriously, that made my day. One of the best feelings to me.

The kids came in 2nd place in Trivia. They are determined to win next time they go.

I am cleaning today and since it is raining I think I am going to scrap this afternoon. I have to keep working on the album for Christopher and April is going to be here before I know it. Overall, that's a good thing minus the pressure I put on myself to get the album done on time.

Wishing everyone the luck of the Irish today!

Good morning O'ladies! I set my alarm and then shut it off…but I’m still up earlier than normal. I am grateful that I sleep well these days so no complaining there. Decker is still with us and visiting the forever family a few times. Fingers crossed. The family seems to really love him but they also seem timid and want to be sure that he gets along with their dog. I am more of a “jump in and tackle this” kind of person.

Personals.

@faerywings, your countdown is going almost as fast as my paper chain. LOL Love that the weather is warmer for you. And wow…so exciting to see the crocus and tulips popping up through the ground. We lost most of our flowers this year…we had too many nights below freezing. I don’t care…I’m not dragging those pots in each time that happens. They are so heavy. I just tell people that I’m accustomed to the north where my flowers would be annuals. And such very good news about your mom. Hope that she likes the doctor and can get things scheduled quickly.

@BrightEyes hope that you got one more night of good sleep. I know that I face the world so much better. And I agree with you…I just won’t use the self checkout. If I wanted to work there, I would apply for a job.

@taxed4ever the hike with the sun shining on the mountain tops sounds wonderful. Glad that it was close and didn’t use a lot of gas. And the pool will be there and empty again next week, right? Love your attitude!

@*sylvia* what a beautiful photo. Love the color of the sky.

@Cherylndesigns I’m going to need to go back and read about your grandma.

@bcgal00 you are really kicking it with this moving stuff. Of course, with such a short window I guess you have no choice.

@tanteva Happy 55th birthday. Grief is a very strange thing, the way sometimes it just overwhelms me. It has been 10 years since I lost my mom but last night I missed her so much that it hurt. I really wanted to be able to talk to her.

@lynnegrieveson congratulations on the purchase of the refrigerator. It’s the little things! And, of course, with the supply chain issues, nothing is a little thing.

@scrap-genie Yay for springtime!

Have a great day whether you are Irish or not!

@BrightEyes That is great news that you got to sleep in! I am hoping that the DST bill passes, it will go into effect in 2023. heh, I liked your Time joke :D
I am with you, I prefer to go to the human checkouts unless I have one thing, then its easier to self-checkout. But for groceries, I always prefer the people.
I love having the kids/friends over as long as I have time to get my head in the game. I don't do well if they spring it on me last minute because then I panic, especially with different dietary needs and the question of "is there enough food for everyone." In the Italian mind, there is *never* enough food, so I always have that internal battle *G* Always.

I had read that about the COVID tests and is why the rapid tests boxes have two tests. I have been watching the cases rise in SK/China/EU countries and am concerned about the next wave here.
yikes. again

@taxed4ever How was the hike? If your weather was like ours, it was perfect for hiking. Scott went on a long hike yesterday after working in the yard for hours. he didn't get back until after 7 pm. That sounds like it was a good decision to not go to the pool.
How sweet to pass on your craft things to your niece. You can always use that stuff in preschools. bet you needed to make room for the new things that Rae sent to you :)
If I ever get a new kitchen, I swear I am going to get an Instapot. Everything you cook in it sounds wonderful and fast.

@*sylvia* Hi!! Nice to have you pop in here. That is a really awesome photo but thinking about all of the dust in it- that isn't so good. It reminds me of last summer when the wildfire smoke and ash traveled from the West Coast to the East. Does the dust get into your house too?

@Cherylndesigns *grabs your hands and does the spring plants happy dance with you*
Your Grandma sounds like she was one very special lady.

@bcgal00 Did the pups have fun at the dog park? Was Remi a little less clingy with you afterward? I am so impressed at how much you are getting rid of and how organized you are.

@tanteva I think it is totally normal to be sad - you said it, grief comes and goes, emotions are not always predictable. I hope that you make it through work ok, take breaks when you need them, and rest when you get home. Your LO is beautiful xoxo

@Lynn Grieveson Congrats on the new kitchen appliances! Even better that you get delivery this weekend. Yay!!
I enjoy hearing about your herbs and your visiting creatures so please do 'rattle on' ;-)
Truly, you should *not* encourage me. hahaha!!

@scrap-genie What a pretty LO, perfect for spring!! I have no idea what the life span of hedgehogs are so I am just going to pretend he is at a new home being loved on by a good family.

@Cherylndesigns Wow!!!! That is such a great page for your G-ma!!!!!! Perfect kit for you to use as well. Love it!!

@LSlycord I see that you posted today but haven't read it yet but I am glad that you are going to start your day with us!! We love having you here in the morning too!!!!!!!!

Hugs!

Morning, all. Managed to sleep in until after 7 this morning... although I did keep waking up from about 5 and drifting back to sleep a few times. Well, today is the day... DD#3 will be moving her office stuff here this evening after she finishes work... Think 3 computers, 3 monitors, headsets, pads to protect the table, surge-protectors, and other things she uses when working. The dining room table will be full. :p She and a son brought down her clothes and other things last evening. Then she realized that she had forgotten several things - so made a list to remind her of them. She goes into isolation tomorrow and won't have a car here... so needs to make sure she has everything she needs. She was so sweet... she also brought a few DVD movies so we can binge watch them to pass the time as she recovers. To make things extra nice... she loves the zucchini-eggplant casserole so I will making it tomorrow or Saturday. It will be nice to have someone to share meals with again.

@faerywings Yes, it is much easier if you know ahead of time that you will be feeding a crowd. Have to LOL that Italian moms never think there is 'enough food' when others are around! So glad that your flowers are starting to spout. I can just see you doing a happy dance as you discovered all the flower stems coming up. Wow, can't believe that Scott would work in the yard then take a long walk afterwards... ah, youth!!!

@LSlycord Sorry to hear that most of your flowers died off during the freezes. I agree... I wouldn't try to haul those heavy pots inside then back out again. It sure has been a crazy winter with FL getting so many freezes.

@Lynn Grieveson Congrats on the new kitchen appliances... and getting them so quickly!

@bcgal00 You are really on a roll getting everything done in a timely fashion. Won't be long now.

BBL... DD is calling.

Morning ladies... Today it is a rain day, but yesterday was so very nice and spring like! We had great views and lots of sunshine on our hike. Had such a good time catching up with all my fellow hikers, we shared lots of laughs and great stories! Sadly there was a very tragic story though... A woman that we hike with, who was a very active hiker, I think she hiked somewhere everyday. Rain or Shine, she was out there somewhere. Well she was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and only has 3 months to live. o_O:(! Hard to believe, she is so fit and healthy and travelled all over the world to go on hikes. I guess you just never know do you? Anyway, from what one of hikers said, she is keeping very upbeat and continues to get out when she is having a good day, not the strenuous hikes anymore, but having nice walks with her friends and lots of company to keep her busy! She lost her husband 6 years ago to cancer and moved here from Ontario shortly afterward. Would spend time at their place in Florida, but when Covid hit she decided to stay home to be safe. She never had children and I think that her sister passed a short time ago. My heart just breaks for her!

I got a lovely txt from Sadie this morning, she is happy that she is getting to go to the pool today and tomorrow they will go bowling. Must be hard to keep them all busy when the weather is so cold still in Ottawa. She did get to go to High Tea with her Mom, other Grandma and an Auntie. It looked like a very fancy place, she would have loved it! I will have to try to make a layout with the photos!

@faerywings - doing the happy dance with you about the flowers coming up! Hooray, spring is almost here! Hope that you get to do some scrapping today, you will get Christophers Album done eventually, just keep plugging along, you can do it!!

@LSlycord - Nice that you are starting your day here with us! Hope that Decker will be a good fit with the new family! Ya, I am hopeful that the pool will be nice and quiet next week, but I think I better check just when spring break is actually over LOL, is it a one week break or two? Not having any kids in school anymore really throws me off.

@BrightEyes - I slept in until almost 7:30 this morning also, guess all that fresh air really helped me to sleep! Your house will be overflowing with techy gadgets LOL! How nice to have some new DVD's to watch while you have your company! Sure hope all goes well for your DD#3! It will be great to have someone to cook for!

Hi @*sylvia* - Nice to see you here! Wow that sky really is a beautiful colour, but oh my all that sand! It will not be fun to have to clean!

Ok Heather and the boys are calling so I will get going! Have a great day everyone! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!

Good morning ladies. A quick hello and I'm off to shower, dress and get back to packing. Just under two weeks now til the movers come. Still so much to do.

@taxed4ever So sad to hear about your fellow hiker.

We are having a lot of rain now so unfortunately that makes it even harder to keep Remi exercised so I'll have to do some extra training, some brain work, with her today. I'm tired today so not going out hiking is probably good for me though. My back was bugging me yesterday so I went to bed early and had a good sleep but the stress and physical exertion is catching up to me, I can't wait for it to be all over and I get to relax.

I'd better get going. Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon all,

I've had a busy day so far. Adrienne and Alyssa came down, then Ava came in, then Steph wanted me to call her after they all left.
Trudy @taxed4ever I'm so sorry to hear the tragic news about your friend/fellow hiker. No, you never know. You'd think that someone who has been that.

Chris @faerywings I'm doing the happy dance with you - spring is finally where you are!! You saw flowers coming up - how exciting! We bought 4 Boston Ferns yesterday for our front porch! It's only supposed to be right around 40 one night in the next week, and they're selling them at Walmart, so we got them and they're hanging up. Summer's coming! Thanks for the sweet words about Grandma. It's 74 right now!

Linda @LSlycord good to hear from you - good news (I think) about Decker. I hope this works out.

Kay @BrightEyes sounds like thing are moving right along with your DD. That will be nice, but also an adjustment. I know you're looking forward to it and she brought DVD's. YAY.

I'm going to sign off now and try to get outside for a few minutes.
