It is July! I cannot decide if June went by quickly or not. Does anyone have thoughts on that? Did it go quickly for you? I feel like June went slowly but the year is zipping past. For the past 2 years, the time has been stretchier than the gooiest mozzarella.

yesterday was boring but I think I got a bunch of things done that needed to be taken care of. Food shopping was the big thing- the woman checking out before me was complaining about how much she hates it and all I could think was "Same, Lady...same..." Afterward, I puttered around the house finally putting things away from the last week or so. Cait and I tried to get the rats to fish for frozen strawberries since we didn't have any frozen peas. Only Cordelia really went for it, the babies wouldn't even get close enough to the dish. OTOH- W figured out that she *loves* frozen strawberries. One dropped on the kitchen floor and as soon as we googled that they were safe for dogs, we gave it to her, and then she wouldn't leave us alone. That meant J wanted one too but she spit hers out.

I am off to clean again this morning and then catch up on some laundry. The weather isn't going to be too hot and I hope that means the windows can stay open. Gary turned the AC off down here at some point last night. I think the unit in the BR isn't working right but I don't want to say anything because we had to buy new ones for both kids this summer and I can't think about trying to get a third. Is it evil and awful that I am hoping that my ILs give us the temporary ones they got while they wait for their central air to be fixed? If we can hold out this summer, maybe we can get their hand-me-downs. BIL has central AC so they won't need it. *fingers crossed*

I should post this so I can make sure I get out early so Gary can have the car by noon. Our friend needs to go to PT and doesn't drive so Gary has been taking him.

Have fun today, sending hugs to you all!

@Kythe I cannot imagine how horrible the weather had been, I hope the rest of the summer is not as bad.

Kay- how nice to sleep in! That is great about getting the ceiling fans and installation even though you got charged twice. Glad that the refund was taken care of easily. hehe, I should take a chinchilla bath with baby powder instead of with water. That would help with the humidity LOL
I will keep an eye on the plants and respray them all in a few days. I am seeing less of the pests but the leaves are still getting chewed up.

@bcgal00 Bet the dogs were happy to have a normal time outside with the weather being cooler. You too!
That had to be so hard for everyone to make sure that B stayed cool enough. Is B vaccinated? Is Jen able to go over as often as she needs to? I always think of her- this past year must have been incredibly difficult for all of you.

@Cherylndesigns Thanks for offering to make the chicken salad with no raisins for me. I do eat dried cranberries if you want to sub :D
I never notice typos with your posts. I even use Grammarly to spell check but it misses some weird stuff sometimes.
Hoses! Ugh!! We used to get the typical green hose from whatever store- Home Depot- and they would only last one season. I didn't want to spend the extra money on an industrial hose but Gary bought one anyway.
*whispers* He was right*
we have had it for ~5 years and it is still in perfect condition.

@tanteva waving hi to you too!

Morning everyone... It has been hotter than Hell here and today is so much better temp wise. However lots of fires have started across B.C. We have been busy with having the In-Laws staying here to keep cool as their place is just way too hot! They do not have any AC and the temps were record breaking. They could not get any sleep, so we told them to come here and cool off. They were happy to be here for a few days and catch up on their rest and stay cool. Anyway we are celebrating the fact that we are now opening up even more and are able to travel across Canada without any restrictions. So we are off to my brother's and Sister-In-Laws for a quick swim and having supper with them. Not much going on for Canada Day Celebrations as we support the Indigenous peoples and the finding of all those unmarked graves discovered at the residential schools. So very, very sad and huge black mark in our history!! So I need to quickly get my grocery order in and then get going. I just wanted to pop in and say a big hello to my O family! I do miss you, but have been so busy with taking care of MIL and FIL. I think that they kind of liked being waited on and not having to cook their own meals LOL. However they are also probably happy to be back home and sleep in their own bed. Lots of watering to do, so they will be busy with that for a couple of days. Anyway I better get going and hope that all of you are well and having a good Thursday! (waving good-bye).

Happy July! I can't believe it's July already! My oldest gs flies in tomorrow and I can't wait to see him! We haven't seen him since Christmas and I know he's chomping at the bit to get out here! It's going to be a crazy weekend though. Along with celebrating the 4th Adrienne and Roger are planning to move into their house! Like I said, it will be busy! There are still things to be finished up in the house, but they're moving in anyway and will have the finishing touches done while they're living in there. I would definitely be doing the same thing!

Chris, when you come for chicken salad, we'll substitute dried cranberries for the raisins. That's a great idea, BTW. Next time - I'm adding the cranberries - I love them too. Thanks for the idea! We had sandwiches yesterday for lunch and it was even better than the day before.

Trudy, stay cool and bless you for letting your inlaws stay with you. I know it's not easy, but in the heat you're having, I don't know how any of you get through - especially with no AC! When we got transferred to Michigan, the builder didn't include AC in the price of the house! I was appalled! He said that a lot of people in Michigan didn't have AC - you didn't need it that much. ACK! I NEED it - fans and open windows don't work for me. True, the humidity wasn't bad there, but I still need AC. That's not negotiable. We even had furnaces in Florida. A lot of the "old Florida homes" didn't have furnaces - they usually had a fireplace, but no furnaces.

Chris @faerywings I guess we just don't have good luck with hoses. I wish we had one of those old time hard green ones, too. Those things never went bad. They were heavy as heck, but never went bad. We have to have a super long one and one that's fairly light for me to get up to my ferns. (Babying my ferns again - those ferns are probably the most spoiled ferns in the US.)

Have a good day. The gang will be over for dinner tonight - they skipped last night. Adrienne wants to make the fried green tomatoes so we have to come up with something to go with that.

Waving to all

Quick dash in to say Hi... Been busy getting LOs uploaded to galleries, etc. So glad that June is over and hoping that July will be kinder and easier for everyone. Our temps are back up to 90* already and sunny skies. So house was closed up early - before 8AM. Almost forgot it was trash pickup day but they had not come when I remembered so didn't miss it. So glad as the recycle bin was almost full to the brim. Got a message that the fan installation will be done on the 6th at 5PM. Don't going to fuss about it being late in the day... just happy to have it done soon. Had to move some things out of the way so they can set up the ladder and reach the light fixture.

Had a busy afternoon yesterday. Trip to the public library to pick up an on-hold book. On the way there, had to detour around a horrible auto accident that had happened about 5 minutes before. Saw 3 fire trucks, 2 ambulances and about 8 police cars and more were responding. It completely blocked the intersection of 2 main roads. It had been raining some - enough to get the road wet. Got to the library and checked even more books. Then went over to the Friend of Literacy bookstore and came away with 7 more DVDs. By then, it was really raining so I was heading home. I was taking a different way home only to come upon another bad auto crash on that main road. Thank goodness it was on the other side going north as I headed south. Traffic was backed up on that side for over a mile. Decided it was not a good day to be out on the road.

Chris and Cheryl, I agree... cranberries would be really good in chicken salad. May have to make up another batch since it is going to be hot. Not planning on doing anything for the 4th. They have banned the sale of fireworks here due to the dry conditions all over the state. Even the rains we have received are not enough to keep the fire danger down. The city will be doing a fireworks show so that will have to do. I can usually see it from my yard so won't have to go anywhere. Glad I don't have dogs/cats as that usually sets them off and scares them. Today the state is fully opened again. We have over 60% of adults vaccinated so the governor opened things up.

Trudy, so sorry about your in-laws not having A/C during the horrible heat wave you are having. Glad you had room for them to stay with you for a few days. Know you are excited about traveling to see other family members. Got a message from Granddaughter (DD#1 and hubby live with them in Phoenix)... one of their 2 A/Cs quit working and won't be fixed until tomorrow hopefully. Temps 110+ there!!!

Going to nuke dinner tonight - no cooking for me. LOL I did bake blueberry muffins for breakfast as the temp was still in the high 60's at the time. They were so yummy even though I forgot to add nuts to the mix. Have enough for 4-5 breakfasts now.

Kay, @BrightEyes I'll add you to my dinner guest list when I add the dried cranberries to our next chicken salad. Honestly, wouldn't that be beyond fun????? Sounds like your temps are climbing. Ours are holding in there - 80's, which are normal. It's been raining all day, which we desperately need. Otherwise, we must start watering.

Yikes on the auto accident! That's always a sickening feeling to see - I don't care how often I see it! Glad you got book, a though.

Chris @faerywings - speaking of books (lol) I got a notification from Amazon that Elin Hilderbrand's book The Sixth Wedding was on sale for $2.99. I love ANYTHING by her - and no, I haven't read the other 5 wedding books. LMAO - I don't care - any book by her is awesome. Her books are never that cheap, even on Amazon. If you want to start a new author, check Elin out. Anyhoo - of course, I bought it.

Just couldn't resist jumping back on here. KIsses

good evening - I dreamt my DH wanted to spend thousands of dollars to put in whole house AC. LOL Of course I dream this on a night when the temps have cooled off. I hate AC and I use it only because of Luther though as I have gotten older I do enjoy it on those 90+ days. I have been scrapping as I watch the Tour de France and then Wimbledon is on and then in the evening I watch the Stanley Cup Final. LOL But I have gotten lots of pages done so that makes me happy. thanks for comments on pages.

@faerywings Chris we had thunderstorms roll through tonight and still raining on and off. I love how it is cooling off. But I think it will be hot again next week for a couple of days. I did not go grocery shopping as I just did not want to go out. I have to soon like tomorrow. Luther hates the storms as just stays by my side.

@tanteva Eva thank goodness I did not have to stay up that late to watch the Sweden game. So sorry for their loss. Will this same team be in the Olympics? Your pets sound funny about needing to talk and snuggle. Hope you could take a nap and go to bed early.

@taxed4ever Trudy Happy Canada Day. Glad you inLaws had your place to use for cooling. I read about the fire in the town of Lytton. So sad. My SIL went through fires and 2 evacutions last summer. Several of her friends lost their homes. Yes it is sad about the indigenous and the graves found. I think no country is perfect. The US certainly has its black marks. The thing is not to hide it but to bring it up and not let it happen again. Hope the heat declines. Glad you can now travel with no restrictions. Maybe the boarders will open soon too!

@bcgal00 Rae Happy Canada Day to you too. Glad the heat is declining and dogs able to get out.

@Kythe so sorry the heat was so bad.

Kay you were so busy. That is terrible about the car crashes. My sister always says people where there is little rain do not know how to drive when it does rain and that causes accidents. Enjoy DVDs.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl hope the move in goes well! I would want to move in as soon as possible too. Your chicken salad sounds so yummy. Something cool to eat on warm days. I like either raisin or cranberries.

have a great day all

I'm not sure, but pretty much the same, I guess. Don't think the team is decided yet. Don't think I will be able to watch the Olympics this year. Discovery Channel bought the rights to broadcast here in Sweden, and I don't have the channels needed. I'm not paying lots of money to watch it.

Have slept really well tonight - first night in 3 days. Not sleeping well really messes with my head!

Hello girls! I'm awful I know, but life is boring, weather hot and I'm less motivated, but will try to post more often next week.
Have a lovely 4th July! Hugs and kisses!
