Good morning! Happy Thursday to everyone. It's so cold here but the wool socks feel great on my feet. I used to prefer fuzzy socks but since Scott talked me into wearing wool-- year-round no less- I am hooked. I only have a couple of pairs but I asked Santa to bring some more.

I made it through my day yesterday and that was a promising sign. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. I made some decisions about the gifts for my parents. Scrapped the idea of the cookies 100%. I am making up a basket of spices and snacks that are low-sodium and low-potassium. I had already made a salt-free bread dipping spice mix and yesterday I made a no-salt fajita mix. Did you know that chili powder usually has salt in it? I had to buy bought organic which doesn't. I plan on making a shake-and-bake mix, low-sodium breadsticks, and a rosemary garlic marinade. I'll make little nutrition cards/labels -- oooh, maybe I can find some recipes and print them out! Good idea, Ms Faery!! :cheer:
Even if they don't use it, they'll see that I put thought and care into the gift. OK! Getting there! Whew!!!!

Yesterday was all chopped up and kooky but I had just enough time to sit down at the end of the day and leave a few comments in the gallery. Maybe I'll get to do some more of that today. Gary and I are going to our LLMD this afternoon so we will be gone but maybe I can get some done. We have to stop at my ILs on the way down to drop off a few packages that came to our house by mistake. Somehow when my FIL ordered stuff from Amazon, our address was the default. Then it is always a long wait at her office. Gary has been a mess the last month so his appt will take time Mine should be quick. I am feeling fine physically, thank goodness. Pain and fatigue are still normal (for me :D). Anxiety- welp. Let's not discuss that. :censored: I know I have said it before, many times, but perhaps now that I have new health insurance, maybe I should think about therapy. OTOH-- once I start working and I'm outside again, I won't need it as much.
On the way home, we are going to try to stop and see Scott's tree. He is off today and might come here to keep an eye on the dogs while we're out. J has jumped on the sofa twice already and now we have to block it with chairs and TV trays. Can't turn our back on her. pfft. Stubborn beast. If he is at home, he invited us for a cup of coffee and a quick visit. He showed us some pictures of the house all decorated but I know he wants to show it off in person.

One less stressor too- we finally got the property tax relief check from the State, deposited that, and paid off a little bit of Jaida's surgery! *dancing*

So there ya go, morning ramblings from me are complete. Signing off...

@BrightEyes gah!! I forgot to upload the LO for your challenge! I just scribbled it on my to-do list for today.
I am getting a laugh over your unplanned naps. You must have needed them.
Sam sent me another picture of her sister holding Logan and Sophia at the hospital. Warms my heart so much ♥

Cait told us last night that they *did* submit an application for the apt on Sunday but decided against it on their own on Monday. You have to apply to a National Tenant Database/Registry/Something or Other. I guess if it is still available when its closer to the wedding, they can think some more.

@vickyday I have always heard great things about Persnickety, you had a really good sale/offer with them a while back, IIRC?
I am sure that the new book will be loved! Hope you and Ilene had a fun visit. How is Carolyn doing, did she have the surgery yet?

@taxed4ever I hope you got the calendars all finished, I bet you feel a huge weight off of your shoulders if you did.
There must have been something "weedy" in the air if everyone online at the PO was smiling goofysmile1 The only thing stranger would be people smiling at the DMV! :lol23:
That's awesome that you got the candy bars! Who would have thought the dollar store would have them and not the grocery store?

@Cherylndesigns Days/dates/numbers-- they all mean nothing to me at this point. Glad that you can at least get the dates right :D
That was my thought about the landlord but I guess C and T might take their chances if they have nowhere else they can afford. :/
Hope that the dogs let everyone sleep well for the next few nights.

Kay- enjoy your new library books-- are you eligible for another Bingo prize?

@Kythe Ha. Gingerbread houses --- they are a lot of work. For Covid Christmas, my extremely crafty SIL hosted a Zoom party and asked everyone to make a gingerbread house. They did this amazing Game of Thrones castle. I made a haunted house out of graham crackers. hahahaha!! Good luck to you all, and take pics of the process :D

Love and hugs!

Woke up at 3AM to sounds of heavy rain hitting the patio. Drifted back off to sleep until 5AM. Yep... still raining. That is better than snow. The roads are a mess to the north and east of us - snow and ice. Yes, I will be staying in today. I may make it a PJ day and just read and veg the day away. No, Chris... I am not eligible for 'another' Reading Bingo prize from the library. I am happy with the book and mug/drink that I have already received.

Yesterday afternoon I noticed a lot of birds sitting on my side and back yard block fence... and I mean a lot of them (20+). Also had a lot of humming birds, robins, red tailed ones and ravens flying around. Guess they sensed the storm coming in. I managed to quietly step outside on the back patio and snap a few photos of them. Need to upload the photos to the computer so I can see them better. Think they liked my yard better than the neighbors' as the fallen leaves from the trees are still on the ground. The birds were flying down and pecking at them so guess there is food for them there.

I had a nice steak dinner last evening... but my George Forman Grill quit working. It is only about 15 years old!!!! :lol23: :giggle4::lol23: At least the steak was cooked well enough when the grill quit. I tried plugging the grill into a different outlet that I knew worked and nada... it was dead, So, guess that will be a 'gift to myself' for Christmas. Looked on-line and the local WM has the one I want - with removable plates that can be washed in the dishwasher. Sister has one with attached plates and it is a PITA to clean, So I know which version I want to get. DH bought ours as a birthday present for me years ago and I have used it a lot!

I commented on the new LOs in my challenge already and will check it again later on today. The hands are really speaking to me today - know it is the high humidity bothering them. Wearing my compression gloves helps some but the hands are still cold even with them on. Have taken to putting another pair of gloves on over the compression gloves and burying my hands in the armpits to keep them warm. BBL

Morning everyone! I am up a bit earlier than usual, it is so dark outside, so I can't tell what the weather is doing out there. It is nice and mild, so probably raining. Well I am 99% done my Calendar for this year, I just have to add some birthdays and holidays to each month and then I can wrap this up! :yesss: This is always a big stressor for me, so it is good to have it finished and then I can get it sent off to the printers. The nice part is that I just send it to the kids local Staples Store, pay for it and then they can pick it up when it is ready! Gotta love on line stuff!! I wonder just how much more it will cost me than last year :(. So hopefully I will be able to finally get some layouts done for the challenges here and get the coupons sent out for the November Challenge winners. I feel that I can now get started on the place setting cards that I was asked to do for Christmas Dinner, now that the calendar will be off my to do list. Yup another project that I have to get done :giggle4:. My Gary and myself are going to the Municipality Christmas Party tonight, its always a fun event and hopefully I will win a door prize again this year! Last year I won a Ninja blender, I just love it and use it often! Oh and I got a phone call from the surgeon yesterday, my DH will have his surgery on January 4th, way sooner than we thought, so hooray for that!! He is not all that thrilled about it, but I said, lets just get it done!!! MEN!!

@faerywings - You have been making amazing progress in the gift making!! WTG!! It sure would be nice if we could all get through this time of year without all of the anxiety wouldn't it??!! Sorry to hear that your Gary has not been doing well this month, perhaps the stress of the holidays messes with him too?? Oh that darn Jaida, what a stubborn pup!! Hope that she heals quickly so you can get back to normal routine with her! I do hope that you get to see Scott's tree, he must be very proud of it to want to show it off to you both!! Ya who would have thought that the candy bars would be at the dollar store?? It was Heather who suggested it to me, she buys treats there for the boys sometimes and its half the price so that was a great score/skor LOL.

@BrightEyes - You are up early again this morning, but glad that it is just rain and not a snow storm that woke you up! Yes the birds must have known that the weather was going to change, glad that you got to get a few photos of them! Hope you can rest your hands a bit today, the PJ day sounds like a great idea!! Too bad about the Grill dying on you, but glad you are able to replace it! I had one that was impossible to clean, so its nice to know that you will have the one that has removable plates, so much easier to clean!!

Well I am sure that Heather will be calling shortly, so I best get another coffee and empty the dishwasher before she does. Have a great day everyone! :xmas-sheep:

Yes, I love Persnickety.
Ilene and I had a good visit.
Carolyn had her surgery and has walked with her walker some, so it is a slow process. She says she is still having pain from the surgery. Thanks for asking! We sure miss our get togethers with her!

Quick in and out again today. I'm trying to let my wrist rest today. My back appt. day has finally arrived so I'm going to eat lunch and get ready for that! I'll update later if I don't forget, lol!

Good afternoon all.

It's 60 degrees right now! I so wish it would stay like this all winter. It did the first winter we were here and then the Polar Vortex hit us the next year. Last year wasn't too bad, either. I'm sure we'll get a blast of snow but hopefully it won't be too bad.

I'm going to do a quick in and out - I have the GSO blog post today and I "tinker" with that for quite awhile so I don't make any typos, grammatical errors, etc. I'm OCD with that one, the minute I hit Publish, it goes out to a MASSIVE amount of people, including FB so it has to be right!

Chris @faerywings I love that you're making spices - I would LOVE gifts like that and especially if they're handmade. I try to find spices in the store in the cutest little bottles I can find. I had a little cutie filled with Paprika and Braden came and "borrowed it" for his deviled eggs for Thanksgiving and I knew I'd never get it back. People don't get my affection for my cute little bottles and other containers. That would be the perfect gift for me - cute containers they don't even have to have anything in them. :lol23:That stinker Jaida - she's probably going to be harder to contain as she gets stronger. That's so sweet about Scott's tree.

Vicky @vickyday please rest your wrist and let us know what you find out about your back.

Kay @BrightEyes glad you can replace your George Foreman grill. We never got one of those although I know people love them.

Trudy @taxed4ever good luck with winning something tonight. We LOVE our Ninja - that's what I use every day to make Chuck's smoothies now. That's a handy little gadget. Glad you got your calendars off to the printer and I agree about the convenience. I do that with Walgreens - send orders to the city where I'm sending the gift and they're ready for pickup there.

Chris @faerywings good luck at the doctor today. Sorry Gary hasn't been feeling well. I agree, probably the stress. The holidays, and the dog, etc.

Hugs to everybody and HAGD. It's THURSDAY. It's THURSDAY. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

So I finally had the back appointment today. He told me besides the L1 compression fracture that my L5 disk has slipped a little but nothing to be done unless it starts giving me problems. And as we already knew, the compression fracture will heal on its own and he doesn't need to see me unless I start having problems. He told me walking would strengthen my back, which I knew. He told me to not do any strenuous stretches or twisting for awhile yet.

I also remembered to ask him about my neck popping and cracking and causing headaches. He said yes and that physical therapy would probably help. So he made an appointment with a sports physical therapist.

He also wants me to get a bone density test since I'm old and female lol!

That sounds like good news, Vicky. Glad you're going to see a sports PT. Definitely get a bone density test done. My insurance pays for one every 2 years. Thanks for the update.
